What is this?! I thought CFC had sufficient support to not have this. Just now I open up CFC, and encounter a web page advertising for the Animatrix with "Continue to Civilization Fanatics Center" at the top and bottom. I'm sorry, but this is ridiculous. Any chance of this going away?

Sorry if I sound whiny; it's just that I've never seen this here before.

Yeah, I had that too. But only once, when I typed in www.civfanatics.com again I got into the site without the advertisement.
Maybe they need it to pay the new forum server?

It is one ad in 24 hours. I don't think that is too much to ask considering the costs of bandwidth and the server upgrade. The upgrade alone will take over 4 months to pay for and that doesn't even cover the bandwidth.

i have yet to get an ad here in a while, and well it doesn't bother me as i know it costs money to have this site. So i think everyone should calm down about ads and realize those are helping(or are the thing) thats keeping the site here, unless TF starts paying everything with his own money

Edit: Oddly I haven't seen it since the first time I logged in so its not that as bad as I originally thought. Quite a suprise in the morning.

Well, the way this phantom forum server upgrade is going, I'm not very sure that I'm wiling to deal with these much longer.

Seriously, though, assuming this server upgrade turns out for the better, a once-in-a-while ad on the homepage won't kill me, seeing as I only visit is every other day.

Exactly, just what I was about to say. The ad is actually a lot less obtrusive than others.

This is turning like Apolyton, IMO - they serve up popups, but only one every 24 hours.
