Civilization III v1.16f Available!

yay, now i can finally disable all the "show movement" things :D
And the patch translated the editor into german!? :o

Does it seem fitting to anyone else that the ability to defend ourselves against enemy airstrikes should be enabled on the 60th anniversary of Pearl Harbor?

so...

i downloaded the patch. i'dnoticed all the little bugs in the game such as air superiority, great lighthouse, etc, but i'd never had it randomly crash on me. i was quite happy to see the patch. silly me.

about 50 turns into a new game civ3 "generated errors and will be closed by windows". i think it's safe to say this is not a problem with my drivers (they're all up to date) or hardware (civ at least ran without crashing before). as much as i want the little nuisances gone from the game, i think i'd prefer a stable game even more. :(

I shall now download this new patch and see if my game is any better for it...

:)

i hope this patch makes the game more playable, it seems like the civ is good, just with some serious flaws, has anyone played civ with the patch installed, yet?

What week is it? FINALS WEEK!

What time is it? TIME FOR CIVILIZATION!!! :)

BTW, anyone interested in Lord of the Rings tickets, I got some at www.movietickets.com last night, so the advance tickets are now available. Opening night, baby :)

is it just me? or if you installed civ3 to a diff location other than the default and then apply patch it prompts you for the cd and doesnt work when u try to run it

it prompted me for the pathname of the non-standard installation directory and worked just fine.

my question is this: the patch file seems rather large, and i was wondering if it is intended to replace the standard setup file or simply to accompany and modify it?

RogueKnight - Love your quote!:hammer:

I had a feeling the saved games would no longer work after installing the patch. Its the same with mods. We're all going to have to start new games I think.

Excuse me while I go install mine!:D I just happened to have taken the whole day off from work... ;)

Grrrrr, at least you can take a day off, I had to steal a cd from my boss and use the office burner to get the patch, as I speak it is being transmitted. I wont be able to play the new patch until sunday. Grrrr.

Sigh... I won a game last night on a large map with a large civilization. I loaded the patch, and loaded a savegame from a few years before I won. Looks like corruption and waste still makes a large map an awful choice. My cities that are, say 20 squares away from a palace or forbidden palace, still only produce one shield per turn. Even with a police station and a courthouse, under a French Democracy at 1850 A.D. on Chieftain.

Icky! I really would like to be able to edit corruptions effect, or play a game that supported large civilizations.

This is a real problem for me; I'm getting bored with playing the game because I can't have lots of useful cities. The game simply isn't as much fun as Civ 2, so far.

The patch is big!

Super, it means large changes and fixes!

ENEMY ACE sends a huge flight of fighters (with hopefully working superiority)
to salute the Firaxians and of course Thunderfall for posting the patch sharp off the press!

Enjoy it, my fellow Fanatics...

Fridays don't get any better! :crazyeyes

After I installed the patch, Civ3 can't read my old saved games. Error reading file. What's with that?

That blows..I thought I read that it was supposed to be backwards compatible. Was I dreaming that I read this?

My saved game loaded fine.
