Civilization IV: Complete Edition

Summer of '08 is what I heard. Its pretty lame though, I cant even find plain old vanilla Civ IV for the price Complete is selling overseas. And BTS alone (which is useless without the core game) is about the same (30 bucks average).

Oh well, some eBay speculators are going to make a tidy profit, thats for sure.

Perhaps the one being released next summer is the actual C4 Complete, not this version. I insist, this is not an actual release by fraxis, is just a package with the three games separately. You can easily see it in the image (the three boxes). If they make an official "C4C" release I'd assume some things would be modified, if only to just join up all different c4 versions and mods within a single interface. I guess that's also the reason it hasn't been released in the US. Besides, I think it should be cheaper over there (once it's released of course).

thanks Bleys, i hope it does because i would really like to only have to buy one box. until then i'm fine with just civ 3 complete.

Where did you manage to get it? It hasnt been released in the US yet, and Amazon.UK wont ship software to US addresses.

I got mine off www.gogamer.com for 35 bucks + shipping.

as for the scenerios not being in bts, i would think that an experienced modder could pretty much convert them to bts.

You're my HERO fly!! Thanks mate! WOO!

I hope its in stock!

Odd - it looks like an official Firaxis one to me at the Play.Com address.
There is a Firaxis logo on the image (bottom right, where it also says 2K).

Well the game belongs to fraxis, of course they should display the logo.. But just check the official civilization site (http://civilization.com/) , there's absolutely no mention there of any C4 Complete.. Don't you think they would at least announce it, specially if it had been released already?

No because nobody would buy the game in the mean time, and instead wait for the domestic release of 'Complete'. :D

My point exactly, that's why I said this was no official release, just a "big box" containing the previously released games, not worth buying if you already bought the individual games. The name "Civ 4 Complete" is misleading..

:shake: Well, no, it is a single DVD and a single installshield performs the entire installation. There is a difference. Box wasn't even that big... ;)

Absolutely true! :yup:

The name "Civ 4 Complete" is misleading..
I don't think it's misleading at all. It's the game with all of it's expansions packs. Hence the term "Complete". Isn't that what 'Civ III Complete' was? I never bought it so I don't know... but that's the impression I got. :dunno:

No, Civ3 Complete was a different story, it was all integrated within a single game, a single main menu from where you had access to all scenarios from all different expansions. It involved some (if little) new programming inside the game. This Civ4 Complete doesn't, that's the difference. That's also the difference btw what would be (and I guess will be eventually) the official release and the one you got. Most likely the difference will be minimal. Right now I have in my desktop one icon for Civ4, another for C4 Warlords and another one for C4 BTS. There's only need to have one single icon for Civ3 (the game itself is called "Civilization 3 Complete"). I guess they also fixed some minor bugs and add some detail, not sure about those.
Eventually you'll see a "Civilization 4 Complete" announced in the Civilization homepage, the same way they announced the Civlization 3 Complete, that will be the "real" Civ3Complete. It will include some minor "new" thing at least, sth worth buying for those of us who already have the original C4 plus the expansions.

I bought the complete box even though I had Civ 4. I did it, because it was cheaper than buying warlords and bts.

I've seen the "box" in retail stores here in norway and cdon.com. I bought it from play.com though.
