Civilization IV Gold - Versions? Patches?

While waiting for my new Vista (Home Premium) system to arrive, I bought the Civilization IV Gold Edition.

I was wondering if anybody knows exactly which versions of Civ4 and the Warlords expansion are included on the Gold CD?

Also, am I right to assume the Gold Edition will still need to be updated with both the 1.74 patch for Civ4, AND the 2.13 patch for Warlords? Or will I only need the Warlords patch at this point?

I've read some of the threads regarding the problems with those patches. Depending on the exact versions of the Gold Edition, I'm wondering if I even want to get those latest patches, as I don't plan on playing multiplayer.

Any info/advice appreciated. Thanks!

that's a ditto for me. I also picked up the game this weekend and am currently going through these issues. I am having trouble running any mods I download and I figure it might have something to do with not having the newest patch.

When I select 'custom scenario' and select a mod I've downloaded, everything is fine until I start to actually load the mod, then the game crashes. This is quite annoying

The best I can tell (and if you look at my number of posts I'm by no means an authority), Civ IV Gold ships with the latest patches. I just picked up the Gold edition last week, and I know for a fact that I'm running Warlords 2.13. Didn't try plain Vanilla yet, but I did click on the update game option, and it gave me a message saying no new updates available (or some such). I believe either the Civilopedia or the main menu gives you an option to check game version.

I think most of those Warlords mods out there are designed for version 2.08, and may be incompatible with 2.13.
