Civilization players are smart and highly educated?

BS - Software Engineering

But then I enjoy illicit checmicals and loud music so perhaps I am not the best example of a smarts <-> school correlation.

Working on a joint BA in International Relations and Political Science. Never want to be through working on it, but unfortunately that time is fast approaching.

"Practical Philosophy?" No offense, but the joke makes itself.

No, it looks like the Civ players who have responded to this thread are more educated tha*n the average US citizen. You can't assume that applies to those who didn't respond. Maybe the ones who didn't post are intimidated by their relative lack of education.

Since I'm heckling, I guess I have to participate. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science.

* Nitpicky, I know, but since we're all crowing about how educated we are....

Working towards a digital media degree. From there, I imagine I will go straight to the unemployment line. Or do something completely unrelated to my degree.

As an awful lot of people do..My career track bears no relationship to my educational track.

(pure science is "fun". Managing "pure" scientists pays the bills much better)

That is indeed true, but it is also true that internet users that post on message boards are not completely representative of a given population either, so my pervious statement is even more fundamentally flawed then it might have seemed. But in any survey there is always going to be response bias of some kind (like you stated in this case). But since it is very unlikely we will ever have a more accurate sample then this, we will just have to make due. Besides, it is fun to make overly simplified generalizations about things like that, and there are a large number of PhD’s around here…

I hope everyone enjoys Civ4 as much as we are anticipating its release.

Working on a degree in...um...something...

I've got something equivalent to a M.Sc. in mathematics and am currently working on a PhD (in math).

For the benefit of BeefBayford I will mention some things I'm working on, the rest had better ignore this: Elliptic special functions, Quantum groups, and Hecke algebras (so basically algebra with a bit of analysis thrown in for good measure).

 All that is above me buddy good luck with it! I did Optimization (basically linear programming with a bit of 2- and 3-D stuff thrown in) and Topology among other things in my 3rd year, oh and some Number Theory and Cryptography :goodjob:
