If I were a modder in search of an idea, I couldn't find a better opportunity, IMO.
Indeed. But you need SDK know-how

@LyTning94:
What about the Parallel Maps modcomp? Are you still intending to work on that anymore?
Unfortunately, no. I just don't have the time right now to spend on modding, and I can't see that changing anytime soon. Koshling has access to the repsitory with all the code though, so if C2C is interested in finishing it, feel free.
To be honest multi maps would be the best thing to EVER happen to civ if you can get it working without loading a game over and over. can you guys branch out and just work on getting that working so that the modding community can use it? I can't even begin to wonder what fall from heaven could do with that kind of thing. Beaker relatedYeah, I've talked to Koshling about it and we plan on implementing multi-maps now ourselves. We've already done the graphical part (Viewports), so the actual Multi-Maps should be less of a technical challenge. Sorry to see you go though.![]()

AFAIK there is a working version of Viewports for base BtS in the parallel Maps modcomp. It still probably has several old crashes, but those can be easily excised. No one, not even us, has multi-maps yet, although the groundwork may be laid for those in a month or so.
I too am eager to play any game or mod with a tactical map, expecially FFH.
And I second the question: what' s the difference between multiple and parallel maps?
Not Viewports, but Multi-Maps could certainly do that. It would require some more coding on top of what C2C is planning on doing, but it is definitely possible.Crystal clear, thank you so much.
Last question, I promise: could viewports be used also as tactical maps like it was supposed earlier?
It's not the original project nor the ideal solution - that would be the multiple maps - but it would be better than nothing.
May you add this as an optional addon when everything else is done? Someone could build on it to have a version for vanilla game and the most popular mods.
Thanks in advance for listening what is beyond your own and good work with the C2C!

I really wish this wasnt vaporware.
Thats not whats really new though, what I want to see is the battle maps, multimap, viewports and stuff. The general unit mechanics described in the first post already appear in embryodead's Sengoku mod
this sounds promising but what are you using them for?The ideas developed in this mod (Map switching) have already been partially implemented in C2C (as Viewports). We will also be making actual multi-maps soon as well, so don't despair.

Whether you're working on the mod tactical combat?
LyTning is not working on this anymore. The code base though has been used by C2C for Viewports (and later for Multi-Maps).
Viewports - it refers to the battle map?
