I always thought, what turn out would it have if Imperialistic Rome fought Medieval Spain, or if the Bruce (Scotland) fought Sengoku Japan?

Post the outcomes if certain civilizations warred at their prime. :)

Aztecs vs. Babylon?
My guess, Babylon would win.
Mongolia vs. Rome?
....I dont know

Didn't the Mongols invade a portion of the Roman Empire? I think they were bought off and returned home with out too much damage though.

um not to be mean but ur wrong the mongols were in the 12th or 13th century maybe a little earlier it was the Huns who came and attacked rome

i think we should see who would win between Russia in the modern vs america

It's not the age that Im considering, it's the military tactics, the power and wit.

you cant compare tactics of say Ancient Rome and modern America basic tactics are completely different. A Roman would have guns and try to get his lines as close as he could to the enemy while the americans would just watch and shoot as they came up and an american with swords be a bit wierd seeing that battle

How about an American with smooth bore gun and bayonet Vs Legionary with pila and gladis. The gun would have a slight advantage over the javalin; but the sword/shield would have the advantage at close quarters over the bayonet. Pretty close to even contest, I would say.

Edit: @CivCube: Good suggestion. Maybe I will make a sceario.

Make a scenario and find out. :p

I'd say give the Romans modern technology, and they'd develop incredible tactics to go along with them. The Romans were tactical geniuses, and that's why they flattened everyone. Sure, every once in a while you'd have an Einstein of a general that would walk his entire army into the middle of a Germanic ambush, but that wasn't all too common.

and yet the romans were killed by the germanic tribes lol

I'm fascinated by this kind of "what if" but I'm pretty sure they don't make sense.

Fact is, it's no sense to say "the Romans" or "the Americans", 'cause tactics (and EVERYTHING else) change so quickly that you should state not only an era but maybe a single day!

Examples: in the earliest part of the 100 Years war, Englishmen defeated the French cavalry by simply standing still and throwing arrows at them. This could happen 'cause the French used "trad" war system consisting in courageously charging (even up-hill!)
When the guidance of the war on the French side was taken by the intelligent (even if less "noble") Grand Constable, he simply ordered to fight in a more prudent way and this changed the war.

Romans: which ones? Those of the Republican or Ceasarian era? Or those of the late Imperial era? They were different people (the former were conscript citizens, the latter mostly foreign mercenaries), differently armed (shields became smaller, swords longer, etc.), using different tactics (more cavalry, less infantry), with different moral.

Yes and No, the mongols extorted the Byzantines, which basically was the Eastern Roman Empire, but different from Ancient Rome. Byzantine took over where ancient Rome left off.
