The title says it all. In this thread I shall pain-stakingly list all the unique components that have appeared in Civ to this date, listed by per civilization, with suggestions for new components that haven't been added yet.

"Unique Components" as you might have guessed, refers to Unique Units, Buildings, Districts and Tile Improvements, over the past 4 games of Civ. It does not refer to abilities, leaders or dynasties.

It also does NOT refer to Civs that have yet to appear (unless they already existed in Civ as part of a blob, see below). Please contain your suggestions for Tibet, Estonia and ancient Nabatea for when a thread for NEW civs is made. (I may do this? but no promises there)

You are encouraged to make your own suggestions once I've completed the list with all the components that have already appeared.

Some notes:
- Blob civs such as Celts (3-5), Native Americans (4) and Vikings (3-4) are split up along their respective tribes, depending on the origin of their unique components. Hence why this list contains names such as Cheyenne, Rapa Nui and Ireland
- Offshoot civs, such as Civilization 4's Holy Roman Empire and Civ 6's Macedon and Phoenicia are combined with their traditional Civ incarnations Germany, Greece and Carthage
- Byzantium and Rome are listed as separate Civs as the games have treated them as different entities.
- Venice is listed under "Italy"
- Units that were wrongfully appropriated, such as the Shoshone's Comanche Rider and the Civ3 Dutch's Swiss Mercenary will be listed under these Civs, not under the Comanche and Swiss, however. India won't be split due to the murky origins of the Varu and Fast Worker.
- Sioux aren't listed, since they only appeared in 2 and therefore had no unique components.

Without any further ado, let's start.

*also* reserved for suggestions

heck, might as well reserve this too

Quick point about Austria and Sumeria, both debuted in civ 3, even if Austria had to be manually inserted over another civ. The Austrians were under Charles V and the unique unit was still the hussar. The Sumerians kept Gilgamesh and had the "Enkidu Warrior" which just is a cherry on top for how civ 3 unique unit names make me want to bang my head against a wall. Also in Civ 3 the Maya have the "Javelin Thrower" because players would not be able to understand what an Atl-atllist is.

You are right!!, I actually totally forgot about the Enkidu Warrior. Added both it and the Javelin Thrower to the list :3

Austria has now also been added as a Civ 3 civ.

Common Appearances: Not that common, sadly enough
New Unique Units: Hupshu (a dirt cheap Warrior), Qurubuti (an Ranged unit, either a Foot Archer or a Horse Archer)
New Unique Infrastructure: Karum (UI or a Commerce UD), Dunnu (an agricultural UD or a UI)
I'm honestly kind of expecting a unique library replacement for whichever Mesopotamia civ we get in the form of a Tablet House, or something similar. They are the only civs left that make sense to possibly have a library replacement.

Also in Civ 3 the Maya have the "Javelin Thrower" because players would not be able to understand what an Atl-atllist is.
Technically the Atl-atlist and the Hul'che are the same type of unit as well, it's just atlatl is the Nahuatl name for it whereas this game they used a Mayan name.

I would certainly expect Firaxis to go for a cringe name such as "Tablet house". Scribe or Counting House (or um, an Akkadian name for those) would be a bit better, but I added them as suggestions.

I think this is the Akkadian word for it: bēt ṭuppi.
The only clear name that I could definitely find was the Edubba but that was the name in Sumerian.

I originally went with the name tablet because to me scribe didn't seem unique enough, considering Ancient Egypt also had scribes, but they didn't use tablets but papyrus to write on. :)

That shouldn't be too much of a repellent. Civ 6 has an Astronomy-obsessed leader in Seondeok and yet the unique Observatory District is owned by the Mayans. Generic names work well enough if the Civ in question is renowned for this particular aspect.

Unless they're Bowmen. Eff Bowmen.

Cool to see the evolution of civs in the franchise. We started out with some pretty strange choices (still can't believe 'Native American' was a civ as recently as in 4) and quite a bit of insistence on including things that aren't part of the civ and seem to be there to blobify... Swiss Mercenary, Norwegian Ski Infantry, etc. Plus there are a bunch there that I never knew were in civ, like the Gallic Swordsman, China's 'Rider' which seems like quite the generic name, and the Shale Plant.

Yeah, I sometimes think the Electronics Factory and Film Studio were a little too generic for civ 6, but at the same time, from a modern layperson's point of view, I can definitely see how they can be tied to the countries that their civ represents, so I can tolerate 'em.

Not going to lie, at first I read that as Elf Bowmen and wondered when did they appear?

Nothing is as strange and generic as India's Fast Worker.
I understand they gave War Elephants to everybody in Civ 4 but they could have given them something else at least like a Sepoy, which could be a good unique for them in the future or a hypothetical Mughal civ.

Great list.
For Brazil, I suggest Sambadrome (actually, it makes more sense than the Carnival District, imo). There some of them in some Brazilian cities. It could work as only one per city UI, like the Open-Air Museum.

For more Brazilian UUs, I suggest: Voluntários da Pátria (military units created to fight in the Paraguayan War during the Empire, it makes sense as UU for a Brazil centered on the Empire, can replace the Musketman. Sorry, no wikipedia page in English), Bandeirantes (colonial explorers responsible for the inland expansion of the country, can replace the Ranger), and the Super Tucano (planes produced in Brazil for operation in Amazon, can replace the Fighter).
There are some paramilitary groups like the Jagunços and Cangaceiros, but I don't think they make sense as a UU.

I think the name Sambadrome sounds better and could actually be the name of the current district instead of Street Carnival.

Yeah, the Street Carnival in the game is basically a Sambadrome. I didn't understand why they decided to call it as Street Carnival, there is no district or building with this name .

Added the suggestions for Brazil :3

5) Great Plains Civs
Common Appearances: Shoshone, Sioux
New Unique Units: Teton Rider (Sioux, Light raiding Cavalry), Heyoka (Sioux, either a medic or a missionary), Code Talker (Navajo, a unique Spy)
New Unique Infrastructure: Tipi (UI), Buffalo Pound (UI), Sweat Lodge (UB or UI)
I just also noticed that you mention the Shoshone and Navajo as being from the Great Plains.
The Shoshone originated from the Great Basin which encompasses a lot of the western states, so that terrain is different, and they aren't considered one of the Great Plains tribes, even though they were mostly nomadic as well. However I will say that the Comanche who branched off from them did find there way into the plains.

The Navajo inhabit the Southwest so they never lived in the Great Plains either, although some of their close relatives, the Apache, did. :)
