Civlisation 5 has some annoying aspects about it

Not really. It was only recently that I had a computer good enough to play it. The first time I tried Civ 4 it lagged heaps, and I cbf playing on the lowest setting, as civ 3 looked and played better. And now that I got Civ 5, no need to play the previous version

1. There is something you can press in the top right of the city screen which allows you to change worked tiles

2. I actually prefer that. I hated it when a unit moves to an unwanted position and I cant move them back, so they get killed.

3. Only melee units can capture cities

4. Improvements and culture are required, but not roads

And stop hijacking threads and turning them into "Civ 4 is great" threads

How can you tell how much your army is costing you each turn?

What about corruption?

How does the happiness thing work now? Can you hire entertainers now to make people happy? what are the detrimental effects of unhappy people in your cities?

On the upper left of the screen, where it shows your cash, happiness, etc, if you put your mouse over the number you get a breakdown of where the points are coming from and what is taking them away.

Monies will show total income and the total costs for units, buildings, improvements, etc

Happiness will show all luxuries you have and what is bringing that number down: population, # of cities etc.

Happiness is not anymore city specific but empire wide. If your happiness goes to minus then all of your cities get big minus to growth. Only way to get more happiness is to build buildings and wonders that give happiness, luxury resources (give happiness but if you have several same luxury resources you only get it from them once) and discovering natural wonders.

so got one source of iron. it has 2 uses of it. One is being used for a swordsman I built, but I don't know what the other is being used for? How do I find out? Because now I cant build anything as both 'charges' of it are being used and I can only account for one of them.

Hashi,

Are you building something that needs iron (swordsman, catapult)? The game will assign the resource when you begin building, not when you finish building.
