Civs to play before expansion

So, I've been thinking that I need to play a whole heck of a lot of Civ 5 before the expansion pack comes out. I've got a few civs that I haven't used yet but have been wanting to, and if I don't play them before the expansion comes out, I may never get around to them. BTW, it's not that I only use one civ, it's that I have been using random civ and just haven't gotten these.

Here are the games on my list:

1. England - Archipeligo - Conquest victory (I really want to experience England w/ Great Lighthouse and Naval Tradition; +4 movement and + 2 sight on a huge naval fleet sounds like a blast)

2. Polynesia - Small Continents - Culture victory (because Moai just look cool)

3. Songhai - Pangea or Large Continents - Conquest victory (I want a huge army of melee units that all have 5+ upgrades each, and I want to fight on multiple fronts at a time)

4. Siam - Any map type - Diplomatic victory (I want to experience 2.5x gifts from city-states w/ Cultural Diplomacy)

5. Persia - Any map type - Any victory type (Never got around to spamming happiness and going through a game in an almost constant Golden Age, using Chichen Itza)

What civs/game ideas do you guys plan to use before the expansion comes out?

i probably wont be getting it immediately when it comes out. i generally wait a bit for bugs to be fixed and to see some reviews of it so im less pressed for time. hiawatha, inca, china, and ottomans are the only ones i have left, i think. i only really want to play with the first two anyway.

When is the expansion coming out? I tried that England type of game... one of the very first ones I tried, but it was so lackluster because there really were never any big naval battles. It was just a matter of getting my troops from place to place. I would love more epic naval battles... they have always been a bit weak in Civ games.

I've tired this, prepare to race for the lighthouse!

I've tried this several times and never finish. My suggestion is to hold off on spamming Moai until your well established.

3. Songhai - Pangea or Large Continents - Conquest victory (I want a huge army of melee units that all have 5+ upgrades each, and I want to fight on multiple fronts at a time)

Note conquering a city on a separate continent as Askia is an achievement.

I am trying to polish off all the achievements related to winning as the different leaders. Right now I'm on Oda and went past samurai without building one (no iron).

The Moai seem like they would be cool, but are somewhat underwhelming. I was a little disappointed that I wasn't able to churn out more culture with them. I think it's because while you get extra culture points, you're not getting the food from farms to grow larger.

I would suggest a OCC as Persia on Archipelago, one difficulty higher than your norm. I've played as that on Emperor having normally played on Prince and won.

Yeah I really haven't played any archipelago games, but according to most, the ai struggles severely on those maps. It would be interesting to bump up the difficulty two or three settings at once!

go for a coastal OCC wiht lots of seafood and build the colossus. They moved it back to iron working in the expansion so that won't be as vialble.

I'm only a few civs away from the achivement you get for winning as all civs; so those are the ones on my list:

1. Current game: Playing the Aztecs on a Duel map with Egypt as a forced opponent. (This is the skirmish map: mostly jungle selected) I waited for Egypt to finally DOW me in the Industrial era before going on the offensive, but now have no plans for peace until I wipe them out.

I turned on policy saving & raging barbs. Went Honor first then Piety. Saved the rest of the points until Industrial era and am now working on Autocracy. (For both that achievement and the one that requires all policies). I'm also hoping Egypt has gotten around to building their UB in their cities.

As a side note, I found it amazing how many cultural points you can get playing the Aztecs with raging barbs on a flat all land map from just fighting the barbarians when you limit your expansion to keep plenty of un owned territory around and your first tree is Honor.

2. Bismark; I'm thinking of trying that map that's like the Great Plains.

3. Japan; I'm thinking of trying the actual Japan map.
