Clan of Embers broad strategy

I've occasionally tried to crash lead civilizations economies by building many settlers with warrens, then building cities in horrible locations, and gifting them to other civilizations when the popup requesting to join the nearest civ occurs.

Of course this is usually around the time in the early game where I'm out of buildings to build, can't build gold/culture/science, and my armies are already to large to reasonably support. I'm just waiting for a great person so I can bubble a tech to jump start the economy and making war.

Of course if you could abandon cities it wouldn't be possible, but its not civ 3 anymore.
 
My biggest starting problems are the woods. Developping copperworking take quite a time, but as Clan there´s an other option: Knowledge of the Ether !
Orks can enter Flaming Squares, so just set the world on Fire, and you can improve it... or at least build some cottages or farms.
