It gave me +2:science: in my library in capital city instead(what I suppose would be correct)in every library.

Think of it like half of a scientist specialist. :mischief:

Also, quests like these only affect building already built, not future buildings.

The quest consisted of building 9 libraries, so I had 9 of them at the moment and the option stated that I would get +2:science: in each library.

And yes, quests like these affect future buildings. I had a +2:espionage: bonus in every barracks last game and it included those I build after the quest.

Concured I one got a random event with a choice being cleaner more productive Dry Docks without having the tech for that building and it worked when I got that tech and built them.

Anyway, I think the +beakers in every library is a better option that an extra GS attached to an expiring wonder.

This quest only boosts a single library (the one in your best science city). I can't remember the exact wording of the in game messages, but I think that is how it is supposed to work.

Admittedly it is a very feeble reward - the extra scientist from the great library is the only decent one from that quest.

It boosts every library.

Classic Literature
Prereq: WRITING
Obsolete: NATIONALISM or PRINTING_PRESS or EDUCATION or GUNPOWDER or ASTRONOMY
Active/Weight: 20/500
Aim:
Build default number of players for this world size libraries (7 for standard)
Result:
1.+2 research in one (triggering) city's library
2.get one ancient era tech
3.IF you control the Great Library wonder gain +1 scientist specialist for this wonder
Only in one; it works as intended

I got the horse whispering quest, completed it, and chose +1 :food: per stable. All 7 current stables got it, but some new ones did as well, while others didn't. I believe (have no proof) that only stables I built before the the expiration (entering Renaissance) got the bonus, while stables built afterwords didn't.

Not unless the change was sneaked in during the most recent patch. It's one library only.

That sucks. I believe there should be a balanced set of balanced quests, which are always active for every era and not subject to random factors. This could be a nice add on to the game.

Whoops, my mistake. I've experienced something different in the quests I've gotten. I guess not all quests are built equally. :crazyeye:

Each quest has its own rewards. A quest giving you a bonus to every building of a type on your civ doesn't mean every other quest will do the same. The reward for the Classical Litterature one is ONE library with +2 :science:, which kind of sucks, I agree.

Anyway, I think the +beakers in every library is a better option that an extra GS attached to an expiring wonder.
The extra scientist attached to the GL doesn't expire when the GL does.

I remember getting the +2 :science: in every library and also getting addiotional food from horse whisperer in every Stable, old or new.
Seems to be a bug.

As long as you were going to build those libraries anyway, look at it as a "bonus" of +2 :science: for your 'main branch' library.

I don't get sidetracked by Quest rewards, I only complete them if it was something I was going to do anyway. And Quests don't come up every game for me.

This is one of my favourite quests. For a wonder that a lot of people build, and a building that is useful to have in most cities anyway, getting an extra free scientist in your great library is huge.

Same thing happened to me. But I never did figure out the distinction between which stables kept the +1 :food: and which ones lost it. It seemed haphazard at the time, unrelated to when I built them.

This quest stuff needs to be normalized. I believe quests all quest should be active in 100% games and it would be up to the player to choose which to fulfill, just as great wonders. In addition they all should be balanced: some nerfed, some empowered, some replaced or restructured.

The free tech "reward" is so damn ********. An ancient era tech? Really? Bronze working or monotheism for free?. Anybody would have researched those by the time they built 7 libraries. Completely effing useless.

Classical era techs would make it worth it. Getting metal casting for free would be a decent reward.

Incidently though in my current game I got the Game of Civilization created event in 1930 AD. The teach it to every university is a lot more powerful than the literature quest.
