For those you you who have Championship Manager 4, here's something to do:

attach here a screenshot of a document (I use excel in this case) where there's written for each season you've played:
Team
Division
Position at beginning
Final position
Points
Other competitions

This list should be updated when a new season is completed

I'll show mine:

The patch 4.0.5 (EP3) corrects this bug

I haven't played CM for 3 or 4 years. :o But reading this thread ans also the other one in the All other games forum may trigger some desire to start playing it again...

I haven't picked up CM4 yet ( didn't like the demo) but almost feel compelled to pick up my FC Twente save of CM01-02 in 2013, after 7 consecutive domestic championships, the Champion's League, European Supercup and the UEFA cup ........ ;)

Jack, I didn't like the demo, too. But I love the complete game

The demo was slow, full of bugs and had an IMO ugly interface.
Now with patch 4.0.5 many of the bugs are fixed, interface is customizable and there are some settings that allow the game to go much faster

Then it might be worth it to download that. Anyway, there's another CM4 thread in 'other games', you should check that one out since that's a lot more alive then this one.

I was expecting more people to post their results but perhaps it would be sensible to just use the other thread as there doesn't seem to be enough demand to support two CM threads.

That thread is called "I'm looking for a soccer management game", and it speaks of various games, including CM4. But no career results.

I'll post a link there to this thread, showing where to post results for each season for only CM4

The threads could still be merged together as the other thread allows more discussion whilst this thread would potentially be a thread just for recording progress without comments.

I'll get my CM4 career results asap. I just have three careers anyway: second year Barcelona, 4th year Ajax and third year Holland

I had a season each with Torino and PSV but I would rather not remember them... Although the Torino sacking was a little unfair.

Mmm.
I see that your results are far better that mine.

How could I explain that? :p

Possible solutions:
1) I'm a crap (but I was a good CM3 player so I shouldn't be so bad)
2) You use some strange tactic
3) You all replay games when you lose (I don't do that)
4) Managing strong teams is a lot easier (I think this is the right answer)

there's a 5th. With CM4 I play with only one league active, you can see the difference in the second season already. For the others, #4 is correct and maybe #2, I don't know. I use my own tactic I used in CM01/02, but it's very similar to 4-4-2A. The results with Barcelona B are really easy to get: you just loan a lot of good players to strengthen that team. It's really easy to win the league that way. It's the privilige of rich teams. I also want to say that Barcelona is really overrated. Kluivert and Saviola score like madmen in the game.
In CM01/02 I managed Doncaster Rovers for a couple of years, which was a little bit harder. Took me 8 seasons to get into the 1st division. In CM01/02 I ruled the world with Ajax from 2008-2021 (then the save was gone). But in the same save I had another 'manager', whith whom I brought Holland to some European and Mundial succesess, then brought Feyenoord up to the Eredivisie again, became champions with Arsenal two times in a row but got fired in my 4th season being 10th in place.....and then had to work for Heerenveen and Telstar. In the end there were 2 players of today's Ajax left. Hatem Trabelsi, at the time 42 and playing for Eindhoven. Rafael van der Vaart, 38, sub in my team....with over 160 caps :p
