Code of Laws Ratification

Shall "Triumvirate 6.2" be ratified as the Code of Laws For Civ4 DG1?

  • Total voters
    25
  • Poll closed .
Thanks DS and Alphawolf I understand your points and will now would like to change my vote to yes.

I suggest the following amendment regarding the order of the Designated Player (4.A.III.B):

The Designated Players will play in the order of those who did not play in the last term in order of votes from highest to lowest followed by those who did play last term in order of votes from highest to lowest. If several players have been elected with equal number of votes, the order among them shall be the order in which they accepted their nominations for the Designated Player Pool of that Term. Once the Designated Player pool is used up, the rotation starts again at the top of the list.

The need for such a regulation seems to be imminent, as shown by the current vote standing for the Designation Player Pool.

Although the poll is closed, can we still have some clarification on these issues please?

How long does a 'term' last?
Traditionally - 1 month.

It is, however, not stated in the ruleset. It's probably currently under control of the Censor, but should be added to the CoL.

And how many turns does a "session" last within a "term"?
That's a bit harder to answer. A "session" is a game session, or a turn chat. Usually the goal is to play 10 turns or so, more if there's something good just around the bend (new technology, goal for a war), less if something unexpected happens.

For those posting instructions, it's always a good idea to post for a minimum of 10 turns unless a specific stop instructions is included. (Turn 5 - STOP at this point, please).

Cheers for that. It's quite an important thing that should be added to the CoL. Unwritten laws really shouldn't exist whenever there's accuastions of conspiracy.

Yup - depending, of course, on who's making the calls. We've got a few conspiracy kooks around here! :p

BTW - note that I did create a thread on that problem. Often, that's the best way to handle it. If you feel there's something clearly lacking from the ruleset, create a thread proposing the amendment. You'll get a nice, usually focused discussion on it.

Alphawolf, please post an unquoted version of the CoL with formatting intact (just leave off the quote tags) either here or in the official constitution thread. Here if you want me (or the mods) to edit in any changes from amendments, there if you want to be able to edit amendments in yourself (and the mods).

Edit: or better yet, just edit posts 2 and 3 to remove the quote tags.

Gah, Too bad I was busy with Christmas. I would have voted no to the CoL on the basis that the Triumvirate possitions are not alowed to have deputies.

Like it would have mattered; the CoL passed by 20 votes! By the way, you seem a little obsessed about the whole deputies thing . . .maybe you should just chill out. Pretty soon no one will want you as a deputy if you keep acting like you have severe ADD or something.

That's pretty awful language you're using there.

Please read the forum rules: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=422889

Get used to it, some members of the demogame have their nuiances they do every term.

Bantste why does him wanting Deputies mean he has ADD? If he had ADD then he would want many different things! That is like trhying to insult someone who is lactosintolerant by calling them a cow. It makes no sense however you look at it. ADD, Atention Deficit Disorder, is not always a bad thing. It can be managed and most of the people who have it are very smart very creative very nice people! What a stupid thing to say:mad:

Bantste - for future reference, the correct term is obsessive-compulsive. Perhaps with proper labeling, you won't get in as much trouble with your peers next time.

Blkbird, Swissempire - read some of the government threads this term. If you have the time, read some of the first pages of Government threads from the Civ3 DG games. I've been witness to this unending pattern for three full years now, folks. It gets old fast.

Look, I am sorry for using the term ADD in such a deragatory manner; I did not mean to insult those people who actually have ADD, as I do know people who have it and manage to get along just fine. However, this was in regard to him wanting to be a deputy for everyone, not wanting deputies, and it is NOT the same as your lactosintolerant/cow analogy. I am sorry for the way I presented my opinion and the offensive way in which I critized another member, however I still mean most of what I said.
