really, the pyramids wonder does not necessarilly represent great agricultural capacity (in fact, it does not even affect food production). What it affects is population growth. A civ with pyramids grows much faster, that's all. Even if US or USSR agriculture was great, so were population growth control measures (true even moreso of Europe). It might make sense to give it in the US to represent massive immigration (which began towards the end of the cold war), otherwise I would give it to whatever civ ended up representing most third world countries, due to the dramatic population explosion (India? China even with it's attempts to control growth? Indonesia?)

Good point. I suppose the almighty balance will have to settle this.

Now, on the great library, there will be spy's in this right? How about giving China and Soviet a spy once every third turn? *covering up my defeat*;)

Um, apart from when they tried to wipe them out in 1948 .

After the '48 war the Arab states were pretty quiet. It wasn't untill about 1967 that they really got motivated to go after Israel. A key reason for this is that Palistinian nationalism didn't really become a moral force to be rekoned with untill the 60s. In addition, untill the 60s, the Arabs simply lacked the money and armaments necessary to stand a chance against Israel.

Thank you almighty Case ;)

Israel wasn't supported by the West from 1948 to 1973. And Israeli armaments were limited by the Arab armaments, since it was the politic of the Western arms-trading nations only to sell weapons to Israel if an equal number was sold to an Arab neighbour. So military inferiority can't really explain it, the Arabs were always fond of numbers (I do realise the IDF was superior at that time, but the Arabs didn't).
Besides, colonel Nasser's motivation can't reasonably be questioned, but the war against him in 1956 deterred him to a certain degree from going alone against Israel. Which is why he waited till 1967.
Nasser always intended to destroy Israel and stated so several times.

Just thought I'd point that out... :D

Also, mordhiem: Mordhiem means Murderhome in Danish (an old spelling though)... :goodjob:
Mordheim would have been a the viking word for the same...
Coincidence?

The Arabs always wanted to wipe out Israel.

Anyway, about the Cold War. How's it coming Academia?

Sorry Emugod, but i´ve been busy.
Exams at the university + playing other PC games.
Believe it or not, Civ2 isn´t the only one :D

Well, I think it´s time to give you a brief overview of the situation :D

1) Units selection periods 1964-1970 / 1970-1975 completed
2) Map (division of the world between the major powers / city locations)
3) City improvements / Wonders of the World names

4) I´m working on the tech tree right now... it´s a mess

This is your homework guys!!! :D

Could you help me with this one???

Do you know where could I find / Do you have information about military power of these decades?
Especifically, I need the numbers of USSR/USA/NATO/China tanks, bombers, fighters, vessels and infantry. And Orders of battle, if it´s possible.
Don´t worry about nukes; I already have the info.

I´d really appreciate your help :goodjob:

got detail stats, approx. 1980 or a little before that. Everything you want&need, no OoB though.

GREAT NEWS!!!
Tech tree is ready.

I used many Raging Dragon, ColdWar, Atomic Age and Crisis advances.

Andrew Livings consent ;)
I don't mind anyone using stuff from Crises or the Atomic Age in any post-war scenarios.

You are a genius Andrew!!!!

hmmm, sorry, but I don´t have it typed in, and I don´t think I can manage to type in 40 pages...what kind of info do you need?
strenghts of vehicle types?
numbers of vehicles? which countries?

I can give you the number of "AFV" (Armoured fighting vehicles) for EVERY country in the world, as well as number of planes and number of vessels.
Further, you can have numbers of primary western and soviet aircraft, tanks, APC´s and ships manufactured (and probably in use).
Further comparable strenghts of all APC´s, missles, ships, planes (all kinds), helicopters, tanks...

manpower for every country, divisions for every country...military quality ratings....

Just tell me what you want and I´ll try to give you detailed info.

Maybe we can confer about this sometime, you can reach me on ICQ, msn, yahoo or aol.

Sincerly,

If you're after OOBs, check out www.orbat.com
In particular, http://www.orbat.com/site/history/1946-99/index.html should have what you're after

(the site seems to be being updated at the moment - if it's not up by the time you read this let me know and I'll post or email the relevant information).

As for China: Go to www.fas.org and enter 'Chinese OOB' into their internal search engine and it will spit out the best Chinese OOB available on the net [which isn't saying much - the Chinese military is very secretive]. www.china-defence.com may also be worth a look.

Question:

I´m talking about 80s-90s bombers

model country of origin year introduced

B-1 US 1984
B-52 US 1955
F15E Strike Eagle US 1988
F-111F Aardvark US 1967
F-117A Stealth US 1981

Harrier UK 1969
Alpha NATO 1979
Intruder US 1963
Warthog US 1977
Corsair US 1966
Skyhawk US 1960

;)

Question:
Do you think that i should use a spy plane and a spy satellite in the scenario?
I feel that i´m wasting one slot. Both units may have similar characteristics in a civ2 game. Don´t you think so?
Ideas, comments???? :)

Thanx for the dates Tracid.
But my question is this one:
What bombers do european countries use nowadays? countries like UK, Germany or France? What kind of bombers do their Air Force use?

Bombers aren't used in a very high degree. A few bombers are in stock, but fighterbombers are usually preferred. F-16's, F-15's, Tornados and others are used. Just as the Russians prefer to use their Sukhoi fighter bombers.
