Colonies 4.2 MP Tournament

 [OFF-TOPIC] Santa doesn't come to Spain, Steve. In Spain we recieve the gift froms the Three Magics Kings (Baltasar, Gaspar and Melchor) who come Januray the 5th at midnigth. They come from Middle East, not from the North Pole [/OFF-TOPIC]

I've just answer all the diplomatics letters :)

I have noticed a small error on the scoring sheet. Sweden starts with 9 "Euro 5-8" cities, not 17. 17 was the French figure. Sorry, could you all please adjust your starting (1630) figures in cell D63 for the Swedes, please?

The spreadsheet will re-calculate.

Done! :)

While on the topic, I thought I ought to clarify the scoring of the second competition, the "who has done best with Nation XXXX".

This competition, as I had conceived it, is scored each decade, but in absolute terms. In other words, for the French competition, the winner (in each decade) is the player who has accumulated the highest total of VPs for the French at the end of that decade.

The score acheived for the French in the preceding decade is not relevant - it is not the relative increase that is being scored, but the absolute one. Clear? Tournament points will be awarded each decade, as for the "Decade Performance" relative improvement competition.

Thus doing well in decade #1 will not make it harder to get a win in decade #2, as it would in the "Decade Performance" competition.

Whenever we decide the Tournament has ended, there will be a French winner in this half of the Tournament (and a Dutch one, and a Spanish one....etc). They could all be the same person, which would make it easy, but if not, the overall scoring uses the same 7,4,2,1,0 method for Tournament points.

Thus if I came first in the French national competition, second in the Dutch, fourth in the English, last in the Swedish and Spanish, I would score 7,4,1,0,0 for a total of 12 Tournament points. Thus the overall winner of the "National Competition" could be judged.

Just a tip on historic maps: MAPS

The maps are excellent, and a good tool to check the actual situation of the period.

When i started my game as Spain in #5, i noticed something strange. At the start where i choose Spain i have aprox 220 units. Out of habit i saved the game immediately after the initial messages have been displayed.

When i reloaded the save, Spain have aprox 180 units. I noticed the same in the other games as well. John, do you know what's causing this?

No, never noticed it before. I wouldn't be surprised if it is the program miscounting Native units, as it seems to have a problem with the amount of them this scenario generates. I have to generate lots of Africans, Beaver and Raiding Parties especially, as the program quickly disbands them. The actual effect is not so bad, though, as this tends to stop these units from wandering too far from where they originate...

Just check to make sure none of your actual units are disappearing (I think we would have noticed in the playtesting though) and perhaps use the F2 screen to quickly calculate whether the correct figure is 220, 180, or indeed, neither!

After counting the number of units, it seems Civ havent learned basic math :D Spain have aprox 220 units, even though only 188 is displayed at the start of the game.

I will get caught up tonight or tomorrow, I've been very busy with the kids this holiday. :)

That includes my unanswered emails ;)

GLOBAL BUMP!

Game 1 Henrik 15 minutes :)
Game 2 Henrik 10 days
Game 3 Henrik 7 days
Game 4 Henrik 15 days
Game 5 Henrik 2 days.

Ok Holidays are over and I wanted to do a BUMP REAL bad to properly kick off the New Year :)

I played on with the save steve posted in game 1 in game 4. So it should be correct. As far as I noticed no AI moved any human civs (you can usually tell as if someone hasn't done their move it won't switch over to the next civ as quickly).

Comment on MP Player Notes:

I believe a slightly better explanation of slaves transforming jungle or swamp into plantations is needed for the player notes.

Right now I dont know of anywhere, where it is documented that you have to press "o" to get the plantation conversion. I just know that because of playtests.
