Thanks for the reply CivPartisan, I tried shutting off the music and am now able to play the game. I'm not sure what the conflict was but if you're unable to get the program to work you might try shutting off one feature at a time in your game settings before doing something like upgrading to a new video card or making changes that might affect other programs running on your computer.
