I was playing a game as the Indians today. It's 1250 B.C. and I just completed the Colossus. It triggered a GA.
Now the civilopedia says the Colossus is just Expansionist and Religious. The Indians are Commercial and Religious. It shouldn't have triggered a GA. No, it wasn't due to using the UU. I haven't even got to the Middle ages yet, much less Chivalry, which is needed to build War Elephants.
I went into the civ3mod.bic and lo and behold the Colossus is flagged as Expansionist, Religious and Commercial. Why is this not in the civilopedia????
That's really frustrating. If I had known it would trigger a GA, I would have done things a lot differently.

P.S. I posted this at Poly with Mike B's name in the subject. Hopefully he'll answer my question.

It is my understanding that a wonder MAY trigger a golden age if you have ANY of the attributes listed. So if a wonder says religious and commercial, then any commercial OR religious Civ could trigger with it.

That's not true. The reason it says may is because you can only have 1 GA. You have to build a wonder or wonders that have both your civs attributes, or trigger it with your UU.
For example the Americans. Expansionist and Industrious.
Building the Pyramids and Copernicus will trigger a GA for this civ. You would have to build both (or another combination of wonders with those attributes)
The reason the GA was triggered in my game is because the Colossus is flagged as Expansionist, Religious, and Commercial in civ3mod.bic under patch 1.29f. My problem with this is, it's not documented in the civilopedia!
No I did not mod my civ3mod.bic
It's plain vanilla. Is everyone else's out there like this??

Check how many and which wonders are checked commercial, then see if it would be usefull to make the colossus so. If so, they siply didn't update the pedia :(

I got the GA from building the great wall as america. and america is not militaristic. so the GA can be triggered if you only have one of the traits.

there is another thing about GAs: if you capture a wonder fitting your trait it doesn't count. But the next time you build a wonder (any one will do) the program checks for GA requirements again - and counts the captured wonder. That way, you can get a GA when building a wonder that doesn't fit your traits.
