Combat experience from buildings.

I was wondering if someone has looked into the combat % gains from buildings and can comment on it. Seeing as I don't recall anyone making a fuss over it, I guess it works as stated...yet I don't see the gain from building a unit in a city with buildings that have upgrades.

i.e. This first pic shows that the military academy adds 25% combat experience for all land units:

You can see in this second pic I have the barracks, armory, and military academy.

So this cavalry unit I have made in Mahendraparvata should have a 50% combat bonus -or 25% on top of 25%; which ever way they get worked out- from the armory, and military academy (none for the barracks of course). But it doesn't show up in it's XP box.

Again, I'm guessing it is there and we just don't see it...but could a more knowledgeable person comment or link me to an existing thread?
Thanks

What you needed to show was how many XP the unit got from a combat, and whether it was from an attack, melee defense, or ranged defense. Since encampment buildings only enhance the rate of gained XP, +50% would imply a defense vs ranged attack of 3XP. Have I personally checked it? No.

Ah kay. I guess I was thinking it would be similar to IV in which (from memory) you could see that a unit created in a barracks had more experience points from the moment it was made. But so to see this in action I need to compare how long a newly made unit from a encampment with buildings takes to promote, vs a unit that was made in a city without those things (gee it would be nice if I could name freshly minted units!)

It should state it's exp modifier somewhere. The way it is now is too vague. Especially when you get a General that can give an exp boost to a unit, you just have to guess which unit gets the most out of it.
Also annoying that you can't retrain old units.

I will check and post here, it's not too hard to do
so left to right my warriors were build with nothing, barracks, armoury and military academy. They then did one attack and I write down their XP for your convenience
Interestingly enough you would have expected the 25% to give 5 XP not 6... its like there is 25% in play already... but not for the base unit, hmmmmm very interesting.
I have chiefdom as government and Urban Planning and Survey as my cards.. I may have to test in game which is a bit of a pain, maybe tonight, I have to carve a turnip for a native English ritual now

And a screenshot to show the fully upgraded gaining the 8 XP

You can also check by hovering the mouse over the teeny XP bar under the unit

Thank you very much @Victoria :) You say it's easy to do...I wouldn't even know where to begin doing it as efficiently as you do!

Firetuner takes 5 mins to install, you can start a normal game then fire up firetuner and create cities, give civics/techs/units/gold lots of things, build districts and encampments....
The trouble is firetuner is a bit quirky and taking the time to know what order to do things takes time.
Great for testing, the above took 5 minutes so simple calls to my user in a post I'll happily comply with if I can.

So if you're suzerain of Kabul, that adds an extra 100%, too, right? So in the above you would be expected to get 8/9/10/11 depending on the level of encampment buildings you have? Part of the reason I kind of really love Kabul - 2 attacks from a unit and you get a promotion (and 50% healing), and can make it really quick to get to level 4 with a unit.

No, I forgot to mention a parameter caps this value at 8 per combat, damn unsporting of them.

Soooo, that would make the generals/admirals that give 100%/200% exp boosts largely irrelevant?

Not all combats are +4 XP so for melee you are largely right but for ranged no.
While Kabul loves you yes but they are also one of the last CS's I would go for personally.

So ranged gives less exp and thus can utilize a bigger boost to get to 8xp?

We've been lied too. I feel dirty lol

Good question.
