Combat Turns in CivV?

I was thinking, with this new rumor of '1 Unit per Tile' and grand strategy, maybe they can make it so that after a 'Production Turn' you can have 5 'Combat Turns' where you and the AI manuver you units for battle, and the tide of war can change rather rapidly.

This is because I don't think that in warr, one 5000 men group kills another 5k men group in 40 years, and refuses to march another 200 or so miles to the next hex. :)

Maybe less, maybe more. Maybe discuss how stupid this is, how they should make it so that they have more than 1 unit per tile, or that hexes are just plain nuts. But I have harbored this idea for a long time, and it does seem interesting: 440 years of buildup for war that ends in 80 years. (11 turns/2 turns/10 combat turns)
 
Dear lord I hope not. I'm living in the hope that less units means less focus on military, not a greater depth of military tactics. But I would not be overly surprised if what you describe does end up happening.

However, couldn't the same effect occur by simply multiplying production costs by 5 to make production times relatively longer than military movement times to the same degree?
 
Chuck, you gotta remember that any game which deals with multiple scales (strategic and tactical) must use multiple scales (not coincidentally, strategic and tactical) to get anything done. In a 20 year turn, you could travel around the world a few times, but it would be ludicrous to allow a player to put their troops anywhere on the map every turn.

If you want ultra-realism, form a bunch of countries with other people who also want ultra-realism and start fighting it out for real.
 
Well if the game was completely realistic, then you could go anywhere in a turn, given that realistically, a ship could circumnavigate the world in a year, for instance.
 
I realy hope they dont have this out of blue thing 1 unit per tile, i mean that will destroy 20+ years of civ legacy. WHY would they do that ? If anything, stacked units should fight togather and support thems E.G., archers shoot first, swordsman do a head rush as chariots flanks!

I also think there should be a select game speed where i can select to have gave go slow like 1 turn = 1 year/month and not slow down construction of barracks i mean it does not take hundreds of years to build a residence does it?
