Commerce Discussion: Gandhi's got a Sword!

At least we have iron. Makes our lives much easier. Now we can see why making one of our two cities produce the great lighthouse in war times is folly. It's one or the other.

 Congrats to the Expansion Director on a very lucky location for donsignia!

With the iron trade now complete, I'm looking now at new trading options.

EDIT: Ah well, nevermind. I could only get, at most, 30g from Tokugawa for Iron Working. And, mysticism is too expensive for a tech that's not that important.

By our lucky stars, we have iron right by Donsignia ripe for the picking. Though unfortunately what looks to be the Indian capital, has iron but yet is still unconnected.

Good. Now my workers know where to go next (after working that cattle by Donsignia, and maybe beefing up the cities a bit).

Pun intended!... ;)

 I didn't notice that until you said something.

We're halfway to railroading. Now all we need is coal.

 :goodjob:

BTW, I assume you're planning to connect the iron after we have some vet warriors to upgrade?

That was the plan in DG2. We could try that again. BTW, upgrade costs are twice as much in C3C.

Well not twice. For each extra shield the unit that you're upgrading costs, it takes two gold per shield to upgrade in vanilla/PTW; it costs three in conquests.

Example:
A warrior costs 10 shields. A swordsman costs 30 shields. That's 20 extra shields. In vanilla/PTW, the upgrade would cost 40 gold (20 extra shields * 2 gold per shield). In conquests, the upgrade would cost 60 gold (20 extra shields * 3 gold per shield).

50% more I think. Each shield costs 3g to convert instead of 2. Warrior to sword upgrade in vanilla/PTW is 40g and in C3C 60g IIRC. We have 150g and the Chinese have 170g which we can take off them with writing hopefully. If we plan to attack in 15 to 20 turns and we average 15gpt net then we should be able to upgrade 8 warriors.

If we delay learning HBR we can build chariots and upgrade them for 30g. So 8 vet warriors and then pump chariots for a while. When everyone has HBR and we have a dozen chariots we can buy the tech cheaply and upgrade them. We can use these to take the size 2+ unconnected Dutch cities and then reinforce the remnants of the sword army that will still be to the north.

Camelot should switch to unit production after the 4 turn settler pump is running to the north.

Sorry - I just repeated what RegentMan already said.
