Emmisaries- The time between when you click "Talk" and the window pops up should be more than instant. It should take a reasonable amount of time for the emmisary to get there, eventually it would be instant with things like radios, phones, and the internet, but during ancient eras, the only way to talk was via boats.

Language- I think languages should be implemented, like, before you talk, you need to learn their language before you can succesfully talk to them.

Sorry if these ideas were posted before.

It may increase realism but how would it make the game more interesting? Waiting several turns (remember a turn represents more than 1 year in most cases) would be a little annoying especially if you are just checking whether they have any new techs to trade... Also how do you explain nations on the saem continent talking to each other only by boat?

Languages is something that is perhaps more realistic although it would be a little unfair as if we gave each civ its actual language then the English and Americans would instantly have an advantage... Also I feel that the cost of setting up an embassy largely covers the cost of training translaters...

Well, obviously they would have quicker means of communication over land, at least I'd think so, maybe you could have these things as options or something, because they might make the game interesting for some.

One way would be to edit the game so that mountains and deserts etc are impassable so that it is harder to find other civs and so it takes more effort to be in a position where you can establish an embassy.

another nice idea would be the ability to send to the AI the head of the emissary as my ancestors did to the Persians. and I would like some nice severed head 3D graphics...

I don't really know about that, I have a lot of trouble understanding you guys and gals across the pond.

I also read in an article the other day that in a poll taken around London, with the question possed was something like what do most Americans don't know how to do correctly. About 10% said drive while 75% said Speak English. (Not sure the poll was real but I did get a kcik out of it)

I think it was Bernard Shaw who came up with this quote about one people divided by the same Language
slightly off topic: "The King's English" by Kingsley Amis has the best defence of "Americanisms" in the english language I ever read...check it out....
