Is communism good? I mean they say its bad in real life but what about it is good in civ 3? I mean im usually Democracy becasue well its an advanced government AND its what the US is.... But what benifits and bad things do you get with it??? Is it good or bad?

This is the first time I've tried Communism. I'm playing the French at Warlord level. Okay, I'm a wuss, but this game is hard. I made the switch from Monarchy to Communism in 1886, and it's now 1894. The reasons I chose Communism over Democracy or Republic.

1. I want to avoid war weariness.
2. Espionage
3. Easier to maintain a large army.

Wall Street comes in 15 turns. I've got 2200 in the treasury with +38 per turn.

The best answer to that question is "it depends." Communism can be a great government if you have a few cities widely spaced out over several continents. However, if you have significantly more than the optimum number of cities (12 tiny, 16 small, 24 standard, 36 large, 48 huge I believe) then communism is not what you want. It will then cause massive corruption in your core cities while giving you 2 shields instead of 1 in tiny colony cities. If you have 100+ cities... don't even think about it.

I personally believe monarchy is much superior to communism as a wartime government, as money and not population can be used to rush projects and a central core of cities will still remain uncorrupted. It is, of course, up to you as what to use...
