I'll tell you why we can't do it in real life... It's just not SCIENTIFICLY possible.

The poison is the blood from a mithical creature named Quimera that kills whoever drinks/is infected whit it. (Just showing one of the millions fantasy explanation for poison).

When hasted, you have the will to continue onwards even when the body is alredy at its limit, no matter how tired you are.

darkedone02 said:
spells are quite science by the way, when using haste, how does it lights your body? if you use a posion bolt spell, where did the posion come from and how it was made in the first place? It's science that affects how spells was made and how to do the movements and regiments you need to do. How do you summon a bolar in fantasy, yet how can we not do that in real life? :confused:

I know that science exists in fantasy worlds but it seems anachronistic to refer to modern terms like "cells" in that environment.

The four elements are mirrored in the four sides of the quadrat and the combination of the four elements thus represents our plane of existance. The four points where the quadrat meets the circle represent the common virtues of earth and heaven as expressed by the runes XIVa to XIVd.
If the connection between circle and quadrat is not properly drawn the corresponding virtue will not be imbued into the incantation and thus ...

Very nice, checked in. :D

Here are some extracts from "The Forefathers" by Adam Mickiewicz, adapted to English by me. Maybe you can use them somewhere.

Silent is his heart, and stilled in his frozen chest.
Sealed are his lips with the silence of death, as his eyes.
He lingers in this world and he cannot find his rest.
Who is he? The dead one that shall rise.

Silently his frozen chest once more draws breath
And his eyes and mouth are sealed no more.
Back in the world, but nor in life and nor in death,
Who is he? A restless wraith of yore.

(I'm thinking this one could work for Summon Wraith.)

***

I chant in my tomb, in darkness cold,
And smell the blood of foes; from the grave
I rise and haunt -- restless wraith of old
I am and their blood, blood, blood I crave!

Swift and painful revenge on the foe:
With or without God, my revenge he'll know!

***

And in darkest hell his soul we'll lock away
With hate and with malice we'll press on his tomb;
Until his last hope hath died in dismay
And the fear of our fangs upon him shall loom!

What else could be perfect?

"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
He chortled in his joy.

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe."

"Love is a burnin’ thing,
And it makes a fiery ring
Bound by wild desire --
I fell into a ring of fire.

I fell into a burnin’ ring of fire --
I went down, down, down
And the flames went higher,
And it burns, burn, burns,
The ring of fire, the ring of fire.

The taste of love is sweet
When hearts like ours meet.
I fell for you like a child --
Oh, but the fire ran wild.

I fell into a burnin’ ring of fire --
I went down, down, down
And the flames went higher,
And it burns, burn, burns,
The ring of fire, the ring of fire.

I fell into a burnin’ ring of fire --
I went down, down, down,
And the flames went higher,
And it burns, burn, burns,
The ring of fire, the ring of fire.

"Clearly the blue river chimes in its flowing

Under my eye;
Warmly and broadly the south winds are blowing

Over the sky.
One after another the white clouds are fleeting;
Every heart this May morning in joyance is beating

Full merrily;
Yet all things must die.
The stream will cease to flow;
The wind will cease to blow;
The clouds will cease to fleet;
The heart will cease to beat;
For all things must die.
All things must die.
Spring will come never more.
O, vanity!
Death waits at the door.
See! our friends are all forsaking
The wine and the merrymaking.
We are call’d-we must go.
Laid low, very low,
In the dark we must lie.
The merry glees are still;
The voice of the bird
Shall no more be heard,
Nor the wind on the hill.
O, misery!
Hark! death is calling
While I speak to ye,
The jaw is falling,
The red cheek paling,
The strong limbs failing;
Ice with the warm blood mixing;
The eyeballs fixing.
Nine times goes the passing bell:
Ye merry souls, farewell.
The old earth
Had a birth,
As all men know,
Long ago.
And the old earth must die.
So let the warm winds range,
And the blue wave beat the shore;
For even and morn
Ye will never see
Thro’ eternity.
All things were born.
Ye will come never more,
For all things must die."

TXT_KEY_SPELL_COURAGE
"Home they brought her warrior dead:
She nor swooned, nor uttered cry:
All her maidens, watching, said,
‘She must weep or she will die.’

Then they praised him, soft and low,
Called him worthy to be loved,
Truest friend and noblest foe;
Yet she neither spoke nor moved.

Stole a maiden from her place,
Lightly to the warrior stepped,
Took the face-cloth from the face;
Yet she neither moved nor wept.

Rose a nurse of ninety years,
Set his child upon her knee—
Like summer tempest came her tears—
‘Sweet my child, I live for thee.’"
- Alfred Lord Tennyson, Home They Brought Her Warrior Dead

TXT_KEY_SPELL_ENERVATION
Twas noontide of summer,
And mid-time of night;
And stars, in their orbits,
Shone pale, thro' the light
Of the brighter, cold moon,
'Mid planets her slaves,
Herself in the Heavens,
Her beam on the waves.
I gazed awhile
On her cold smile;
Too cold- too cold for me-
There pass'd, as a shroud,
A fleecy cloud,
And I turned away to thee,
Proud Evening Star,
In thy glory afar,
And dearer thy beam shall be;
For joy to my heart
Is the proud part
Thou bearest in Heaven at night,
And more I admire
Thy distant fire,
Than that colder, lowly light.

@Xuenay
I agree. I posted those excerpts from The Forefathers because they're very suggestive, but I'm still reluctant about them.

Xuenay said:
I don't know about quoting real people, though. I have a feeling it might distract a bit from the immersion to suddenly see a mention of somebody who's lived in real life.

I know it would for me.

I'm All for putting in flavor text that is ONLY FFH world text. What im offering is merely some complimentary substance. In vanilla a lot of the quotes for techs were quite refreshing. In this, its nice to have a relation between the "real" and the FFH world. The real here, is meant to justify the world. Not because it needs it, more of an Omage in both directions. The "best" poets and such are the "best" because they can evoke a responce of us to turn to a fantastic world with words alone. This does neither them, nor FFH any harm.
Who better to carry us to the world of dark fantastic poetic existance, than dark fantastic poets?
-Qes

EDIT: The use of humor and comedy from real world source material already is in the game. Bevis is the picture for "no education" there are Numerous referances to "Monty Python", and several others i cannot currently remember, im just continuing that trend.

EDIT2: And while i posted the "whole" of each poem, etc. I would think that only a small excerpt from each would be enough for flavor. I figure that the "purpose" text will bring players 100% into the world. When units/spell/buildings/abilities/etc are compared, one to another, or spoken of because of purpose and role, it will enter players consistantly into the FFH world. The "flavor" is to primarily "keep mood" alive.

EDIT3: I like the Summon Nightmare one best...if only one was allowed/enjoyed. :P

Two things:
1) Holy crap, looking at the quote text, thats how easy it is to use a spoiler thing? Well.....That solves some bulk issues.

2) While i could go get my Latin dictionary and grammer helper from some umpteen years ago, and try to reclaim in my memory of the latin that I took for some years, is it possible to get an expediant translation in English from the source - I.e. Chalid? It'd be most appreciated if i didnt have to reedcuate my latin.
