Community Patch - How To Install

@MaximeQC Save file „remembers” which mods you used, but only ones with AffectSaveFiles flag set to 1. The others are, well, not affecting it, so you can enable / disable them at will. (6) is an UI component and doesnt affect save files. That is why only 1-5 are listed, and it is a correct situation.

Hi guys,

Not sure where to post it, but here goes :

There is an error in (2) Community Balance Overhaul\LUA\InfoTooltipInclude.lua

L552 should read end, not then. This is in the script that i freshly unpacked via the installer. It causes the UI to be broken for anybody running just CP+CBP.

I've tested the change and everything looks good.

Need halp, I can't get Vox Populi to work.
What I did is launch the installer (so far so good) then chose vox populi (including EUI), completed the installation then launched Civ 5 and activated mods. At first nothing happened but I tried again and for some reason it 'worked' : at least the tooltips of civilizations changed to match vox populi stuff (like byzance can get a religion no matter what, -15% Faith on purchases, you know stuff like that)
Then I got in game and the policy tree is Vox populi's, but the technology tree was exactly the same as BNW. Then I figured the policies actually didn't work (like I chose Progress but never got the bonuses every time I got a tech/my city grew and when i chose the +2 prod/+2 gold stuff it didn't increase gold or prod :(
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Civ V (i got it on Steam) which didn't do much.
Now when I launch Civ I have to go into the mod menu select everything on green then next (wait a lot) then back (wait a lot) and sometimes I got vox populi sometimes not, but when I got it i still got the same problem aka BNW tech tree, policies not working. I'm not sure if Farming still exists (I know it used to when I played vox populi a long time ago) but I can't get it. I think everything vox populi related doesn't actually work, even if some stuff shows up.

When in mods I go next (wait) -> single player -> launch a game, Civ simply crashes.
Any idea what could be the root of the problem?

Edit: I suppressed all mods and UI_bc1 (which was in DLC folder) and am trying Vox Populi (no EUI) install, will keep u updated if this one works
aaand it doesnt

Delete everything out of your MODS folder. Make sure there are no non-Civ folders in your DLC folder. Reinstall Vox Populi. Make sure you are on civ version .279. Make sure you are on a windows computer.

Check into the MODS folder.
Is there exactly the 6 folders from VP and nothing else ?
If there is anything else, you are probably subscribed to a steam mod that cause problems (even when not enabled, that's a civ 5 mod managed bug)

There's only the Vox populi I never got other mods

G

I am on Windows 10.
My DLC folder contains :
DLC_01, DLC_02, DLC_03, DLC_04, DLC_05, DLC_06, DLC-Deluxe, DLC_SP_Maps, DLC_SP_Maps_2, DLC_SP_Maps_3, Expansion, Expansion2, Shared, Tablet.

Any of these shouldn't be there?

As for the version, I know I have the Civ V complete pack which includes basically every DLC.
When I get in the main menu it says Civilization V Brave new world V1.03.279

I know I made a Vox Populi 3.7 work, I had a manual way to do it where I put all the 6 mods in MODS and MP_MODSPACK 3.7 and UI_bc1 in DLC. I actually probably can still make this one work. Not quite sure what MP_MODSPACK 3.7 actually does, it seems to contain all the mods in itself, maybe it's irrelevant to put it there idk.
Any chance it could still be linked to that old installation even though every time I moved the 6 mods, mp_modspack and ui_bc1 out before playing bnw again.

Then try the following:
1) Uninstall VP (delete the mod, and ui_bc1)
2) Download the latest modpack (at the END of https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/dlc-modpack-and-43-civ-version-repository.609278/page-15) The modpack 3.7 is highly outdated (from last year)
3) Put it in the DLC folder.
4) Play (do not use both a modpack and normal mods)

How do I update the game if I created a modpack? When I tried replacing all the mod files, the game would crash on startup.

Not sure to understand the question. The modpack is the the Asset/DLC folder. If you delete it, you obtain back an unmodded game and you should be able to play unmodded.
You can then download or create an up-to-date modpack using the standard methods.

I've been using an older version for a while and I just found the update. I tried to install it the way I had it before in the C:/steam/steamapps/common/SidMeier'sCivilizationV/assets/DLC/MP_MODSPACK_v3-7 but it crashes to desktop every time. Is there a way to install it to play multiplayer still or is it single player only now? On a side note the reason I found the update is because I was looking for a reason for being utterly dominated by culture all the time even though I built most of the wonders had the largest religion and the most great works yet by the middle of the game the ai has managed to produce 4 times the tourism I have and I keep reducing the difficulty too went from winning on emperor to losing on prince. Pedro won a culture victory on turn 146 on emperor WTH the moment he met all civs the game ended. Is this normal?

You have to create/download a new modpack for each version.

First question:
You have to delete the old modpack folder (in your case "MP_MODSPACK_v3-7") and the UI_bc1 folder (if you have one). After that, you put the downloaded Modpack folder in the DLC folder, next to the folders named "DLC_01", "DLC_02", "Shared", "Tablet" (and so on), where the old modpack folder also was. It's still MP compatible, even more than ever, thanks to bugfixes and optimizations.

Second question:
If you're on v3-7, you're playing a super old version, and alot has changed since then. Don't bother too much with the old balance. Also, vanilla is about 2-3 difficulties easier than Vox Populi. That means, If you were used to crushing emperor, start with prince difficulty.

Hello, long time lurker but new member here.

I am having some problems with the current version of VP.

I am trying to play with this set up:

-(1) Community Patch
-(1a) Community Patch - C4DF Addon
-EUI

Unfortunately I cannot make this work with EUI. I understand that playing with CP + EUI only requires the LUA CP folder to be deleted for full compatibility, but what is the process I should take in order to play with the CP + CP C4DF Addon + EUI? I have tried everything, deleteting the LUA folders, deleting specific LUA files, installing the CP Compatibility Patch, but to no avail.

Also, something funny happens when I install and run both CP + C4DF Addon: a third folder appears on my MODS folder called "(1a) Civ IV Diplomatic Features - CP (v 1)" but this third folder does not appear on my Mods list when I run CIV V.

Any help?

No, I did a manual install. The curious thing is that the option to use just the CP + C4DF is not available in the auto-installer, just through the manual install.

If you are only using the CP, you should not use the other mods included since those are made for the whole Vox Populi mod. There are standalone mods for the ones included.

When you say CP, do you mean only the CP or the whole Vox Populi?

I am using only the CP. I could have got it wrong, but if you go to the Manal Installer Folder, you will see the following options:

(1) Community Patch
(1a) Community Patch - C4DF Addon

(2) Community Balance Overhaul
(3) CSD for CBP
(4) Civ IV Diplomatic Features
(5) More Luxuries
(6a) Community Patch Overhaul - Compatibility Files (EUI)
(6b) Community Patch Overhaul - Compatibility Files (non-EUI)

As far as I understood it, and not only me, it is possible to use the (1) Community Patch and (1a) Community Patch - C4DF Addon without the need of using any other files of the VP. What I wanted to do is use the CP + C4DF Addon + EUI.

I am goingto be honest with you, my dream scenario would be being able to play with the whole VP, but my games always crash, I opened a thread about it, if you want to help me:

https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/game-crashing-with-mods.633628/

Thanks again in advance!
