comparative sizes of armed forces '33 '38

I have just started A2 history and i was curios as to the camparaitve siezs of the amred forces of Germany, Britain, France , Russia, Poland and Czechoslovakia. I have found many fasinating sites detailing the economic drain and percentage GNP spent on the armed forces but no details as to the number or make up of the forces and i wonderd if any of you had some resorces i could investigate.

Try Rise and Fall of the Great Powers by Paul Kennedy. It had a comparative chart as far as I can recall (http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P/0006860524.02.LZZZZZZZ.jpg)

On a more historical note you could start your research by renaming Russia to USSR if you are doing post 1921/22 research.

That is true it should ve USSR but i was mearly copying from a "find out more" sheat from my tutor so part ofthe blame has to be his. Thanks fro the link i will investigate

That's an article which considers proportional reseource spending of the major powers. Doesn't give figures for manpower, but might be interesting nontheless.
