Hey

I am an old civ fan, and have played since civ 1 and cant wait to play civ 5.

I know there is going to be a while before the game hits gold, but this is more
of if its possible and to check out the response..

When I play CIV these days I have a rule of not cheating Load, save etc.
And play with the map i get, so I was thinking is it possible to make a program to disable the load, save option until the last round so we can post it here.

I believe it can be fun to have some sort of competition to se who can make it first on the differnet difficult levels in CIV 5, and with what civ. Then post the save game, to verify the story.

But, is it even possible and is anyone else hyped about the Idea... ?

I really like playing with no reloading. It makes the game a lot more challenging.

Sounds like a pretty good idea for ciV.

If you haven't tried the GOTM (Game of the Month) that's offered on this website, you should. That is always competitive.

This is the point of the Hall of Fame mod (for vanilla and warlords) and BUFFY (for BTS). They are designed to be able to check if a player has not reloaded during the course of the game for eligibility in the Hall of Fame.

You might want to check those out.

Ah, thank you

So, you belive that the "mod" will be here just as the mod for Civ IV then.
- Well, to all the smart programmers here, you know what to do when civ V hits gold :)

it is called "iron man". it is an easy option. civ5 should bring it really.

still, copying save file to another directory /renaming can be alternatives. most of the time, there are still ways if someone wants to reload :)

It is very likely that a "Hall of Fame" mod for fair comparison of games will come out soon after the release of civ5. Unless, of course, the game ships with a similar feature for keeping records.

This is fine for single player, however in "Hall of Fame"-type competitive games, no reloading *must* be strictly enforced.

Best regards,
Steven.

PS: As a wild aside, maybe the game score could be higher if the game was sure there wasn't any reloading? :) This could be a neat, subtle way of encouraging the development of better play for all sorts of players, and would also give a reward for effort - instead of giving the same score for the same final victory whether you've never reloaded or reloaded 1 or 1,000,000 times. :) Of course, the game would have to be very stable, and have guaranteed autosaves each turn (in the case of power failure, system bug etc.). :D
