Has this happened to anyone? I am completely land locked inside mountains. I can't get out until I get military engineers.

Here is a screenshot of my game:

With all the mountains, I've gotten some great adjacency bonuses for my campuses which has helped my science. I beelined for "military engineering". I just need to finish the encampment and get an armory to get a military engineer. Then, I can bust out.

Thoughts?

Bad enough you are locked in but your closest neighbors are Monty and Tommy!
Play Friendly.
Expand if possible when you get released from jail.
Keep your finger close to the restart button.
Post up the turn 1 save file so we can try this map.

I don't have a turn 1 save. But I have attached a turn 10 save. Hopefully that is close enough.

Can't you get out earlier by building an encampment outside and capturing som cities (maybe a couple city states)?

Military engineers are not the solution. Yes, they can build tunnels, but only much later. Earlier on they can build only roads and forts.
As said before, you have one tile outside where you can build an encampment.

Yeah, I screwed up. I focused on getting military engineers and built a campus outside. Now my two cities are maxed out on districts. I should have build an encampment outside sooner. I did not think of encampment, I just thought I need tunnels to be able to move my units outside the mountain range.

Well, you learn....

I played up till turn 40 and suspected something was very wrong.
Paused to the Menu to see it is on Prince :)
I was wondering why is it so easy to roll these City States!?
