Component transfer error?!?!?

I have recently gotten a new computer and decided to put civ 3 on it. That worked but when i was installing conquets it stopped around 30% saying component transfer error. this is how it reads on the error message:
Component: Conquests
File Group: Conquests
File: D:\data2.cab
Error: Data error (cyclic redundancy check).

Plz help me before i blow.

When it is installing the error message appears when it isinstalling
C:\Conquests\Art\Units\Holy Relic\holy relic and so on

It sounds like a bad cd.

Or a dirty one. You could try cleaning the CD, see if that helps. If possible, clean your CD drive as well.

data2.cab is usually a dirty CD, yes, try wiping it with a towel or such to clean it.

nope... i guess im gonna have 2 buy a new cd

Can you exchange it? Certainly if it isn't working then the store you bought it from should work with you. One hopes, at least.

Have you tried contacting Atari technical support?
