Does anyone else think that Computers should be a much more important advance than it is? It revolutionised combat with increased accuracy as well as saving heaps of money which would have been spent in wages. It should be more than a tech allowing Space Flight and improving science.

I agree. But it should increase unhappiness because everyone are angry when the computers crash. And it could create a rebellion (Humans creates failures, but a computer creates disasters)

I agree too. Nevertheless, Sid shouldn't have created Civ. It's horrible. I suffer lack of sleeping due to him

So let me say computer is a great invention (sometimes...) but Civ is the worst plague I've ever seen. It contaminated me ages ago and there's no cure yet. Perhaps shall we find in Sid Meier Civ3 a new discoverie or wonder called "Cure for Civ addiction" which make 5 people happy in each cities

Please don't kick me out from this forum

You are telling the truth, but be a little bit more careful. Thunderfall may chuck you out, you know.

Cure for Civ addition wonder: Immediately corrupts all Civ files on your computer and installs a stealth virus to prevent reinstallation.

I don't think it's a good idea, since you'll need to prevent people from suiciding

Perhaps the best is to call a psychologist, isn't it?

That will not cure but at least it should mitigate the addiction effect...

The seizures (of enmy cities) begins when I play.

The advent of the computer didn't really effect weapons systems for years.
Computers does lead to better weapons with Robotics and Stealth.

I think this mimics reality fairly well for a game. You could do some tinkering and change things if you wanted.

Perhaps you could get a spy to plant Civ 2 on enemy computers. Then the entire civilization sits in stasis as it plays Civ all day.

That depends on what you think is a computer!
Most people think exclusively of digital computers nowadays, but "fixed program" analogue computers have a long long history.

Having said that, I once worked on programming the Texas 9995 microprocessor. That series was one of the first micros to be used in warfare - their 9900 pilots Cruise missiles! But that was only 20 years ago.

I agree with the upgrade idea, but I was kind of pegging the upgrades to the Future Techs. We cannot exactly predict what Future Technology will bring; but we can predict that Future Technology will have military applications. Just to throw out a rough paradigm, every fifth Future Tech upgrades land units; every eighth Future Tech upgrades air units; and every twelfth future techs upgrades naval units.

(Still waiting for them to design the Stealth Tank!)

Hey, psst, I'm looking for a Civ fix, I'm a junkie, just a hit, please, don't make me mug you for Civ money
