Confusion over PBEM compatability

How compatable are PTW and C3C in PBEM?
I don't have C3C, do you have an option to save in PTW mode or do you have to open PTW from C3C?
I know that PTW cannot open C3C save files.
So if I play with someone on C3C van they make save files accessible to me and how do they do it?
Or can they?

They must play with a PTW disc. Otherwise, you will be unable to play the save.

i have civ 3 vanilla and added conquests..when you load c3c, you get PTW with it. it sets up as another folder in your civ3 directory..start ptw from the civ3ptw directory..so you have to actually start PTW not conquest.
this is what i have been doing for your pbem game. i did not but PTW but i can play it

OK Cheers that is the same as mine. When I bought PTW it added it to Civ 3 as a folder too. Maybe I am not so confused now.
Therefore, anyone with C3C could play a PTW game if they start the right exe.
Though as mine was an addin I need the new disc too.
