Conquest for mac

Okay, I'm gonna try and get all of this.

I, like many, want the features (units, etc) of Conquests. I don't want to play GOTM scenarios.

What is the process for this? Is it the mod by bluebox? Do I need to do all that modding with AlanH's drag and drop prog?

I am really kinda lost on the whole thing here. I really appreciate the info here, though.

If you want to play random games with the GOTM mods then you need to install the GOTM mod files and get Bluebox's scenario files.

For the GOTM mod files you have three choices:

1. Hand install all the GOTM mod files. Not recommended, but that's the way it used to work and it's possible.

2. Use my integrated GOTM Installers. There are three of them, all linked in the first post of the thread in my sig. This is the easiest way if it works for you, though some people seem to have problems with them, which was the original incentive to produce option 3 ....

3. Use my drag and drop installer to install the file sets. It's explained in a post linked from the first post of my installers thread. The file sets are scattered around the sites. Here are the links:

My GOTM23 File set
Cracker's GOTM 24 File Set
Cracker's GOTM 25 File set

Note that the GOTM 25 file set requires you to copy some sound files from existing standard unit folders to new unit folders. There's a script file in the download listing where they all go from/to. You don't have this hassle with the integrated Installers.

I made these installer options as simple to use as I could, but a few people still seem to have problems with them. I don't know whether this is due to system incompatibilities, my poor user instructions, or my bad design. Please let me know how you get on.

Okay, here's what I'm looking for: I want to have the advanced air and naval warfare features that are offered in Conquests. For now, I don't care about anything else. I tried poking around in some of the mods, but it doesn't seem like any of them have the cruisers or flak units and associated stuff. Where do I find that?

I used to have an iMac until it burned, and now the poor student that I am couldn't afford more than a PC and it's crappy windows xp. Still, I could get my hand on ptw (I admit I didn't want to pay twice since I had already bought it for mac and was kind of disappointed) and it came to me that MP wasn't that nice.

Whatever computer you will be using, it will always be laggy, no matter what kind of connection, even lan. CIV3 doesn't look very professionnal to me, like blizzard games are (bugless, balanced, etc). I must admit I'm addicted to the game, so I still play it :crazyeye: anyway.

The guy who chose not to make the game in a portable code needs to be slapped ;).

Let me tell you guys that you miss nothing without the MP, games are always too long and get boring. They even get frustrating  because of the insane 1-2seconds lag each time you do something (move a unit, move luxury slider, change tech queue, etc).

:)
