Continuing multiplayer games without one of the players

I had a fantastic game going as Calabim with a friend of mine who's a puss and threw a hissy fit and didn't want to continue.

However its probably the best starting location I've ever seen. Flood plains enough for like 4 cities worth all kinds of stuff. I want to continue playing it myself but when I load in as Calabim I get in fine and all but I can't click any of the promotions on any of my guys. THey just sit there. I can't end turn even though all the other players (including my friends char) has the * next to it to show that he ended his turn.

if you could you could cheat even if your friend still want to play...

I don't know if this is even possible . But this worked for me :

_ ask your friend to retire from the game . Ai will play for him . You can load the game in the same MP menu you've started (direct ip , hotseat , ...) and continue to play , but not the single player one .

SImpliest way:

You load the game, you use a second pc to join the game, you quit with the player and you save. If you don't do that, the game won't let you pass turn (some strange freeze/wait screen, the cursor just loading).
