when i load a mod like better bts ai or civ++ the mini map and all controls arnt there. why would this happen? menu button time. everything

Try Ctrl-I or Alt-I or Ctrl-Shift-I. If this fails, ask the following:

• Have you compiled it?
• If so, you probably haven't compiled it right. Re-install (or load a backup), read one of the guides to compiling, and try again.

I don't understand the last bit of your question, so if you could re-phrase it I'd be greatful

It makes it look for your files in the right place - try it, or else move the contents of CustomAssets to Assets via copy-paste.

copied custom assets contents into assets. didnt do anything. do i need to copy the assets folder from the mod and put that into the normal game assets folder?

Sorry if it wasn't clear.

Your not supposed to copy the Custom Assets into the Assets. Basically what I am trying to say is:

Go to My Documents/My Games/Civ IV Beyond the Sword (this might not be the right path, I'm on a mac)

From there you should see Custom Assets right beside Assets at the top (well not anymore, take out the Custom Assets from the Assets folder)

Drag your Assets folder to your Desktop

Right-Click on the Custom Assets and click Rename

Rename the Folder as Assets

It should work...
