Converting Generic Images to .DDS

I was just wondering if anyone with graphics expertise could explain how to go about getting a normal image file like .jpeg or .gif into the game?

Google for "DDS Converter" and once you install a shareware you can easily switch to and from between DDS files and other image files like JPG, BMP etc.

I installed DDS Converter 2 but it gives me an error every time I try to change any kind of file to DDS. So now I'm looking at Plan B.

Use DXTBmp, save as DXT3 -- make sure your alpha channels are set to black.

DDS Converter 2 works fine with my civ 4 files. Have you checked the target directory location or the formats and all other variables?
