I have a scenario I'm working on (my first) based on Toho Kaiju. I have several roars for all the monsters, but Civ 2 MGE won't let me use them because they don't have specific attirbutes. I've figured out that all files need to be PCM,22,050 Hz, 8 Bit, Mono. The first file I checked was 11,025 Hz. I haven't even looked at the other ones yet. So are there any ways of converting thins like that? Also, some of the files have an AU ext., and Civ needs WAV files. Any way to change AU or other extentions to Wav?

I have Sound Recorder Pro with Sound Editor, but haven't figured out how to do it yet.

Any help will be greatly appreciated, I'm looking forward to getting this thing done.

You should be able to convert the WAV files using the Windows Sound Recorder (I don't know Sound Recorder Pro). Open a WAV file, click "Save As...", change the format to PCM 22,050 Hz, 8-bit, Mono and save.

For AU files, one option I can think of is using WinAmp. Open the AU file, change the Winamp output plug-in to the Nullsoft Disk Writer in the preferences and configure it to use the correct WAV format. Now play the AU file and it will be written to disk in the desired format, rather than being played.
Remember to change the output plug-in back to what it was before when you're done.

AH! Thanks a thousand! That takes care of that problem. But it seems I've ran into another.

I'm using Kobayashi's method of getting hi-res pics to become units (because I haven't a thimble-full of artistic talent). I finished Rodan and Godzilla units, but they still have a "border" of brown/pink around them. Any idea why?

Are you pasteing into the existing units file, or are you creating your own.

If the former, make sure It's the right color pink.

If the latter you need to make sure pink retains it's position in the pallet. Open the orginal to see what slot the pink, dark pink and green colors are and make sure those colors are in the same spot in your immage.

Okay, I fixed the problem. I was pasting onto the original units, and used a brown border for Rodan and pink for Godzilla. With Rodan, I simply didn't take the meticulous time I needed to get rid of all the brown surrounding him, and with Godzilla, I'd used the exact shade of pink needed for the unit background, but for some reason, my paint program changed the shade of pink around his body when I zoomed out from %800 view to normal view. I just went back and painted the offending areas pink. Looks much better.

Huge thanks to Mercator and Souron for helping out, it's much appreciated.
