how do you lower corruption. I am being held back by it in a recent game I am playing...

please list ALL ways to reduce corruption... :goodjob:

Build courthouses
Build Police stations
Jump palace to more "middle of your empire" location
Build forbidden palace (dosen't matter where, only handles rank corruption)
Build secret police headquarters
Switch to best government. If your empire has 20 or more cities on tiny, 30 or more on small, 40 or more on standard, 50 or more on large, or 60 or more on huge, communism is best. Anything lower demo or rep will be best.

Play a Commercial civ. Never build more than one city. ;)

The patches (follow link on front page) have also reduced corruption in general, so make sure you have the latest version.

Wrong! Forbidden palace also reduces distance corruption in nearby cities, so it does matter where it is placed.

No. It stops working when you're not in Communism.

That was in vanilla and PTW. In Conquests (1.22 if it matters) it dosen't handle distance corruption. Neither does SPHQ, how could it? It's only for communism, where only rank corruption is an issue.

According to Alexman's study of corruption the FP reduces distance corruption. It is explained here quite clearly:

The Forbidden Palace acts as a second Palace for distance corruption calculations
