Is there anyway to edit the corruption levels in the editor? I found the field called something like ideal number of cities or something and tried raising that number, but that seems to only effect the number of cities you need to have before you get to build a forbidden city.

I really like this game, but the corruption & pollution effects are just beyond foolish. I thought maybe if I used communism which is supposed to give you a constant low level of corruption, and it turned out that "low level" of corruption in large empires is 80% of your cities producing 1 shield and 1 trade unit. I like to play on the huge maps, and you have to have a large empire in those maps especially if you dont have a ton of civs on the map. Yet if you build a large empire you basically are forced to live with dozens of useless cities that are just their to expand the borders of your empire.

I can understand why they got rid of the no corruption in democracy form of government, but is there someway to tone down this rabid corruption in the game? I know they lowered the corruption in a patch a little bit ago, and it is better then when the game first came out, but it is still too high for me atleast so I am hoping that some of you guys can help me lower the corruption in the game.

There are a couple of partial solutions to corruption:

One is to go into the editor and go to Rules/Edit Rules/Governments (first uncheck Tools/Use Default Rules). There, you can lower the rate of corruption for different governments. One major problem with this solution is that it doesn't work for Democracy and Republic (they're already at the lowest setting) or Communism (you can't set Communal corruption to specific levels). This can, however, reduce corruption in the early game when you're limited to Despotism or Monarchy.

Another is to make various non-corruption-reducing buildings reduce corruption by going to Rules/Edit Rules/Improvements and Wonders and checking the Reduces Corruption box in the lower central area. This is a somewhat cheaty solution, but it means that any city with the improvement(s) you select will have lowered corruption.

I hope these help you!:)
