COTM 28 - First Spoiler

I got Republic at 1500 BC...

You have my sympathy. ;)
Republic killed my game. Well, that and my stubborn determination to make the worst of a bad decision... ah, but this a story for the next spoiler thread really.

This game is quite a pain.
I did not finish nor submit it.

Without having the correct dates available, I remember I founded three towns (London on the spot, York on the gold), did the republic slingshot in 1350 BC, founded a remote town next to an Iron source and shipped warriors to upgrade there. As it was close to Portugal and I have to travel the seas frequently, I captured Lisbon with the lighthouse. To my surprise the flip risk was brought to 0% by a mere three MP units :)

So now I'm planning to take on cartaghe because they have the nicest land - but they are the strongest, too - since I made the mistake to ally miserable William (R.I.P.) against him. Poor Billy had spent most of his worthless life in building the Great Library for Hannibal . I should have waited for him to get his swiss guards.

EDIT: Once again a Cotm proved too time-consuming for me to finish it  Especially ship chaining was detail work in this one. :suicide:
In addition, by some early mistake I had trashed my alliance reputation and could not bribe Thea's powerful fleet against Vikings or Cartaghe. So I was facing pikes and muskets with maces and knights which I had to carry around over the oceans.
I had also failed to move my palace and stuck on that island till 6xx AD.
I had rather used my first MGL for an army on Cartaghinian continent that was never used as I delayed the attack again and again :ack:.
I guess I had better rushed a palace somewhere... :hammer2:
So I will try to finish Gotm59 in quicker fashion to keep the gap in GPR small...
