This is the thread where you tell us how you did - win, lose or retire.

Only read or post in this thread when your game is ended and successfully submitted.

First to submit and first to post here... I'm getting quicker...

I went for a quick and dirty Conquest. Date and score will have to wait till later. For now only one question: why does the SoZ produce Curraghs instead of Ancient Cavalry?!? Paris had built that thing quite early in the game, so I made sure to involve France in an early war with Russia, so I would not have to face too many ACs, when invading France. At first I thought that plan had worked well: I didn't face any ACs at all when fighting France... Until I captured Paris and got a free Curragh right the next turn... In a land-locked city... :smoke: Then I knew, why the plan had worked "so well"...

The following screenshot shows all units I owned in the last turn of the game. I think it displays my "priorities" for this game pretty well... :mischief:

Just finished, and it was a fun game. My final army was somewhat... how do we say this... different than Lanzelot's.

The final result was a Domination Victory, 1940 AD. I could've won a few years earlier, but decided I wanted a few years of peace, as well as a few Manufacturing Plants, to celebrate my victory first while waiting for borders to expand.

The Cliff's Notes version is below:

- Tried to archer/warrior rush an Inca city around 1000 BC; fiasco, was lucky to not lose anything.
- Early war with the Aztecs that ended in white peace.
- Early war with Ottomans that ended in taking two cities (one later flipped back).
- Middle Ages war with Aztecs that starts with losing two cities, but ends in their conquest in 1000 AD.
- Middle Ages --> early Industrial war (1100s start) with Ottomans that ends in their conquest in the mid-late 1500s.
- Early industrial war with Dutch (1300s) that ends in them losing most of their cities on my continent to the Inca
- Early Industrial war with Inca (1500s) that ends in taking 3-4 of their cities.
- Early industrial war with the Dutch (1500s) to conquer coal from them
- Mid-industrial war with Inca (1600s --> late 1700s) that ends in taking all their cities except one island city.
- Mid-industrial war with Russia (early 1800s) that was too late to keep them from conquering their entire continent; invasion is repelled.
- Late industrial war with Russia (late 1800s -> early 1900s) that gives me what I'll need for domination.

I only started the first Incan war, the second Dutch war, and the last Russian war - the other 8 were started by the AI. I have a sneaky feeling that the AI was set to Most Aggressive for this game - they certainly were playing like it. And being surrounded by three AIs made for a very interesting time.

Retired. :-(
Though I think I can win this game given enough time. Was my first foray into Monarch and I took a very very long time to adapt to the new conditions. Managed to keep other AIs quite happy, but Aztecs were relentless. Finally decided to take them out and though my ranking improved, I fell way way behind other civs in science. Aztecs did not have saltpeter and thus I beat them into submission again and again, but the war took too much of a toll on the rest of my civilization. Now the top two civs are at war with each other (Russia and France), but given that there are only 15 more hours for submission, I do not think I could finish this game, and retired.

The next one is Sid-level, which I think I have no chance at, so am considering continuing to play this game and see if I can catch up with the leaders and maybe get a Pyrrhic victory eventually.

How far into the game (year-wise) were you? It kept me on my toes, and Monarch is my typical level. If you've got your initial land and the Aztecs', you've at least got a chance, particularly if you can avoid fighting both the Ottomans and Inca at once.

Am in 1510. But am giving the Sid GOTM a shot. If I get beaten black and blue shall come back to finish this off. :-)
