Just finished, and it was a fun game. My final army was somewhat... how do we say this...
different than Lanzelot's.
The final result was a Domination Victory, 1940 AD. I could've won a few years earlier, but decided I wanted a few years of peace, as well as a few Manufacturing Plants, to celebrate my victory first while waiting for borders to expand.
The Cliff's Notes version is below:
- Tried to archer/warrior rush an Inca city around 1000 BC; fiasco, was lucky to not lose anything.
- Early war with the Aztecs that ended in white peace.
- Early war with Ottomans that ended in taking two cities (one later flipped back).
- Middle Ages war with Aztecs that starts with losing two cities, but ends in their conquest in 1000 AD.
- Middle Ages --> early Industrial war (1100s start) with Ottomans that ends in their conquest in the mid-late 1500s.
- Early industrial war with Dutch (1300s) that ends in them losing most of their cities on my continent to the Inca
- Early Industrial war with Inca (1500s) that ends in taking 3-4 of their cities.
- Early industrial war with the Dutch (1500s) to conquer coal from them
- Mid-industrial war with Inca (1600s --> late 1700s) that ends in taking all their cities except one island city.
- Mid-industrial war with Russia (early 1800s) that was too late to keep them from conquering their entire continent; invasion is repelled.
- Late industrial war with Russia (late 1800s -> early 1900s) that gives me what I'll need for domination.
I only started the first Incan war, the second Dutch war, and the last Russian war - the other 8 were started by the AI. I have a sneaky feeling that the AI was set to Most Aggressive for this game - they certainly were playing like it. And being surrounded by three AIs made for a very interesting time.
