OK, I'm back from vacation (two whirlwind weeks traipsing about England and France - lots of fun, great things to see, but really tiring), and since the spoilers are pretty late coming out and the difficulty is low, I'll condense the last two spoilers into one. Please feel free to comment on this format. And keep an eye out for COTM75, which should be out in a day or so.

This FINAL spoiler covers the period from the beginning of the Middle Ages to the end of your game. And as usual for the Final Spoiler, feel free to make any final comments you wish to make about your game or any others. How did your game go after the Ancient Age? Were you able to make Portugal a sea-faring powerhouse, or did the AI give you a challenge along the way?

Hope you enjoyed your time off from Civ, Steve! (I will do the same in September...) However, on the other hand it's good to see you back... This spoiler came just in time! Finished my game last night...

Very strange game.

It didn't feel like the usual domination game at all: built almost no horses (in the first stage warriors -> swords and in the second phase knights directly), and in fact my army at the end was very small for a domination game: roughly 25 units being in action at the end of the game, a mix of MIs, elite swords, Ancient Cavs and knights.

Instead I built settlers. Settlers, settlers and lots of settlers. More than half of my territory came from self-founded towns. Don't know, whether this strategy was good, but at the end of the game only 8 AI cities were left, so I would have had to settle own territory anyway (but perhaps not on the far distant islands).

And another strange point: Temple of Artemis was never completed in this game! The last remaining Zulu city, Intombe, still had 8 turns left on it, when I captured it the turn before the end... :D And Wonsan (Korea) and Memphis (Egypt) are also still working on it in the final save. These slow-poke duffers, you can't rely on them for anything! And I had given them Polytheism very early, right when I learned it.

But I think it would not have made a big difference anyway, even if I had gotten it like ten turns before the end. Would have shortened the game perhaps by 2 turns, if at all.

Fireaxis score 5922. Can't wait to see, how this compares to the fast conquest games!
