Could DMZ hosting possibly allow Civ 4 MP to work?

I have tried everything I can think of, yet I still can't play civ4 from behind my router.

I am able to connect to a small amount of players, like 10%, but not the vast majority. I can connect with almost everyone when I am connected to the modem.

I have:

Made a static IP address and set up port forwarding for all the listed ports
Disabled "Block Anonymous Internet Requests"
Upgraded the firmware on my Linksys router


still no luck. It is freaking annoying. I contacted linkys customer support and they suggested DMZ hosting but so far it hasn't worked. Is it a possible solution?

A possible solution to your problem COULD be to contact your internet service provider and ask if they have a global firewall that affects your connection. In small Denmark I have experienced this problem, however that is a few years back.

Have you tried the following:

1. Connect with the same computer on a different location, e.g. at a friend's - just to rule out it is not something with the computer.
2. Disabled all firewalls on the computer, especially the built-in firewall in Windows XP/Vista.
