Now, this is a UI issue, and I just may not know the proper shortcuts:

In the city screen, a lot of times it only shows the 9 tiles on the first row around the city even if the city's long been out to 2 or more rows in culture. Other times it will show it so I can see the whole 2-tier area, but it's not consistent about it. Is there a shortcut key to make it show the city properly, or is this some kind of buggy behavior? Civ IV BTS 3.19 on Steam (Mac).

Other times, all the bars up top are just gone, and I don't know what I hit to make them disappear...

When it doesn't show the outer ring of city tiles, are they showing as black (undiscovered), dimmed (fog of war), or covered by the frames of the UI? The bars up top that disappear, are these the food and production bars, or the research and great people bars?

My first thought is that this is a screen size issue. What resolution do you have BTS set to? Full screen or window mode?

Actually, after experimentation, if I arrow to another city with culture expansion, and then arrow back, it displays properly.

It will initially display with just the 9 squares inside the bars, but then you flip to another city, and flip back, and it zooms out to show the whole cross.

Never seen that before, unlikely to be something in HR that's causing it. What resolution are you running BTS at?

I've attached a savefile. Yes, it's low difficulty, as I'm just seeing how everything works. I've run into a problem. I have the requisite tech (Finance), but no banks are showing as available to build...

1600x900. Fullscreen.

I would attach a screenshot, but Mac Civ 4 does those in BMPs, and it's an almost 6 MB file.

Banks are constructed by Great Merchants in HR.

Use OS X's screenshot facility (CMD-Shift-3). By default it saves a png to your desktop.

I'm an idiot. Here's a zipped screenshot. Too late in the evening, I guess.

Looks like the Field of View slider is set too low. It's in the upper right corner of the main screen (unless you've switched it off via BUG options). Default is 42. City zoom can be set independently of field of view but it requires an XML change in BTS itself.

Ah, ok. Also, on the bank thing, I misunderstood the note. I was thinking it *could be* built by Great Merchants, rather than *only* built by them. Thanks for the quick answers. Love the mod! (I mean, an actual Civ IV mod that works on the Mac version?)
