Crash around turn 300

The bug is about the graphics for the Spanish Great General in the Renascence age (or the age that starts with Astronomy). That is why it happens in the late game.

Do the following, start a game with Spain and enter the WB. Add one great general for Isabella and then start adding techs. Once you hit Astronomy, the game crashes. This is the same crash as reported on this and other threads.

Agree. I had a crashes too, in 315 turn. There was no way. Killing the spanish in WB was the solve of problem.

Bug solved. Thanks to 3Miro for spotting the bug. It made fixing the bug a lot easier.

Here is the fix:
(Unzip it in RFCEurope/Assets/XML/Units, if it doesn't replace anything, you're doing it wrong)

It is working fine now :>

Im having lots of crashes lategame though...dunno if it is the mod or civ that cant handle a ton of units :/

Working fine for me too, loaded a Dutch start in 22 minutes.:) Interesting start: Spain was well above everybody with a score over 2000 points, had Napoli and southern France. Germany expanded into Austria, Hungary and Poland and also vassalized Poland. Denmark and Groningen were English. Some city in Bretagne declared independence, I think it was an English city, France only has one city left, probably Nantes. Turkey isn't doing much, Venice has the entire Adriatic, Firenze and Constantinople. Sweden expands nicely into Finland. Others are doing pretty regular if still alive.

Have you ever played SoI?

They have put incorporated Civ modifications in order to make the game quicker, and with less crashes due to Memory Application Failures (MAFs) for those with slower computers.

Now, I don't have the SLOWEST computer known to mankind, but I do appreciate when devs incorporate mods that decrease the necessary amount of RAM required to run the mod without a MAF occurring. SoI has 31 civs (if I am not mistaken), so a mod that lessens the required RAM is a pretty smart addition, I think.

Did you try the "light" version. In Assets\XML\Civilizations, there should be a file that ends with "light". If you replace the regular Leaderhead file with the light file, you will be using only BtS Leaderheads for all the civilizations. The extra graphics from the leaderheads is what causes issues for many people with low video RAM, it may help you.

If you get the MAFs because of Vista 32, here's a solution:

It worked perfect for me, didn't get a single MAF after that even in the very very very late game.
