heu ppl, I have this rather weird crash that occurs (not always) when the game feels an urge to quicksave (usaually when loading or starting a new game).
The game crashes to desktop
And then I get eror msgs saying summit like:
Could not save to \harddrivevolyme\...\$mft
The data has been lost.

This ONLY occurs when playing civ4, so I doubt its an actual hardwarew issue, but rather the result of civ4 code.
So, civ4 has a grudge against my master file table.

I can get any loging for this error, since when it occurs the log saving also fails with the same message.
And its not rilly reproducable since loading a save that caused the crash last time may work on the next try. D:

My sys meets the reqs aye ok, (mebbe the grphxs crad is a tad old, but it should be sufficient) so I dont think its them.
And, on another issue, (its not that disturbing, just a tad odd):
Previously the game got unplayable when I traded the whole map och got a full world view, by a strike of luck this ceased with no apparent reason but instead the wonder movies started to run poorly (even when the map isnt revealed).
Well, the last problem isnt that bad, since I can still play, but I mention it since the swap from unplayable with whole map revealed to wonder movie lag was a bit weird.

Well, I'll post my dxdiag.
(I know my swapfile is huge, its because of FootballManager2k6)

I had 'data lost' errors when loading games from the 'out-of-box' game. I fixed it my unpacking the assets file, art0.fpk I think it is. There was a thread on how to go about this with a link to the program but I can't seem to find it now. I'm not sure if you still need to do this with the latest patch.

Other suggestion is to defrag the pagefile. Set the VM to '0' in both boxes, restart, defrag the HD then set the VM back to what it was then restart again. I might give the game an easier time using the pagefile but the performance gain might only be fractional at best.

The wonder movies are a well documented bug and there is some 'low-res' ones in the pipeline so the computer has a easier time rerendering them. They have been badly-coded into the game imo, the game copies them into it's own buffer and rerenders them. Switching off the AA setting for the graphic card through the 'Display' control panel seems to help though.

Ive already unpaked all my asset files, so thats not it D:
Ill try defragging the pagefile anyway.
thnx
