Crash report on opening the game

Your graphics card (Radeon RX560) is better than the minimum (RX460). Your driver has not been updated since a couple of months, so I would try that.

I have a driver that dates August 19, 2024 - I can't find newer :(

I tried to run the app file from the installed file folder on my pc:
Civ7_Win64_DX12_FinalRelease

but it does not run, it says "error: 0xc0000142"

So I got a responce from 2K. Mind you I had sent them my DxDiag and Msinfo32 files and I am sure this was a cut and paste. But maybe it can help.

Hey there,

Thank you for reaching out to 2K support!

First, we'd like to ask you to take these specific steps to ensure that the game and all its required software are properly installed.

Next, if you're experiencing issues in launching your game or encountering an issue where it is stuck in an infinite loading cycle, and you use Windows 10 or Windows 11, check out our guide to OneDrive sync troubleshooting.

Hopefully, that worked! If not, since you're playing on PC, I can take a closer look at what might be causing the issue by getting a copy of your DxDiag and MSinfo files.

This Support Article will show you how to access these files and attach them to your reply. If you need help with how to take screen captures, we have a guide as well, located here!

If you have any questions during this process, please let me know!

Thank you,
2K Support

So I have a : This message is awaiting moderator approval, and is invisible to normal visitors. tag on my last message.... So this will not make sense until they do what they have to do.

I did do all the steps they sent me and still continue to have the issue.

IT has been approved. 🎉

The J, same problem here. Would you mind looking at my file?

Thanks
Your system also passes the minimum requirements, and the driver seems up to date enough (from 2 week ago).
So in principle there's nothing wrong with your system :/.

Sorry, our automatic spam management is very agressive. Might happen a few more times, but we'll try to approve them ASAP.
I have just found crash dump files in Users\...\AppData\Local\CrashDumps
These might be useful later, in case Firaxis asks for them .

I read at other forum sites it looks like your processor needs to support AVX2 to run - mine does not... :(

When I first booted the game, I got a crash report error message as well. I rebooted the PC and verified file integrity. The error window appeared again, but the game played fine. I played a Maurya game until the end of the Antiquity Age, then I stopped playing. Later I started yet another Maurya game and picked Chola for exploration. The game crashed and now "continue game" or "load game" causes the crash again.

I kept trashing the UI but got the game anyways but come on. I play Marvel Rivals on high settings...

Here is my DxDiag if anyone wants to help. I checked all myh drivers and they're up to date.

Also, I thought I saw they were releasing a Hotfix, but I can't find that info anywhere anymore??

Disabling V-SYNC did not solve the issue.

Interesting. Didn't see anything about that in Firaxis minimum requirements. Seems a pretty big oversight

I can play for a little while (several early turns of exploring) and then mine crashes. Here's my file, please help.

If you were refering to AVX2 minimum requirements, all CPUs in minimum list contain AVX2 instructions (Mac ARM-based CPUs not exactly, but similar)

However I do not think AVX2 requirement is fact. Just observation.

But as personal opinion: If minimum CPU listed is around 11 years old and you have 16 year old CPU you need to think hard before bying.

I got another response from support. It was yet another automated message telling me to follow the steps of an article I had already read and followed.

I am beyond annoyed. I played two ancient era games without being able to transition to exploration, and now I can't even load the save files.

How does a refund work in this situation?

The hardware looks alright, and I assume that a 2 months old driver will not make a difference :dunno:.

Same as above :/.
EDIT: In your case it seems that some Asus drivers are crashing at the same time, something called ArmouryCrate. Maybe that thing needs an update?

The_J, thanks for your support can you see mine? many thanks

You are unlucky, your graphics card is not supported and way too weak :(.

Armoury Crate sucks. It wants you to run as an Admin instead of a standard user all the time. I was able to play for over an hour as an Admin user. So, I've uninstalled it today. Now I'm just trying to find a good RGB fan/lighting software.
