Crashes when attempting to talk to the British

I have been at war with the British, and after they become willing to talk to me, I open up the Diplomacy panel with them. I hear the bells/tinkles/whatever, but then the game crashes, without the diplomacy window with the British opening.

I reloaded the game, then tried conducting diplomacy with a few other civs. They worked. I tried contacting the British again, but then the game crashed in the same manner.

Reloading the third time, this time I waited for one turn later before trying to contact the British, but to no avail. The game crashed again.

What could be causing this problem? Weird that it should only be happening with the British. I'm sure I did not delete any files relating to them.

Oh and btw, it is C3C 1.22.

Have you been able to contact them before? most likely, its a problem with the flc file for the british.

Yes, before I was at war with them I could contact them.

Have they changed era? It might be that the (say) ancient-age animation for Elizabeth works, but the industrial one doesn't. If you post a save, I can check on my version.

Hmm, I had reinstalled my game in despair, deleting all my saved files too (including the mentioned buggy game in which I had already played till the industrial ages ). Thanks for the offer though.
