Crashing during opening vid and endgame

Hi all. Since I installed Civ III on my new computer, I have been having trouble with the game crashing. if i try to skip the opening vid, it crashes. also, after completing a game, the screen where the other civs say witty things works fine. then i click past that, and it usually crashes. i can sometimes make it past that screen. but then the hof crashes, and my game isnt recorded.

any help is appreciated!


oh, and im playing vanilla on windows 7

What version of vanilla? are you fully patched? That might be the issue. You could always get conquests, it is pretty cheap nd a good update.
