I am having a problem with the game crashing to a black screen. When it happens, I can hear the sound continue for a few seconds, then I hear a repeated popping sound in the speakers. At this point, I have to reboot the computer. The same problem happened using a Geforce 4 MX video card and a Geforce 6600 GT. I'm not sure what version of video drivers were installed when the Geforce 4 was installed, but I am using the latest Detonators (as of today) from Nvidia's site on the 6600 GT. The same crashing problem persisted between the stock version of the game and after patching to 1.52.
I also tried disabling nearly every startup item on my computer to no avail.
I ran Prime 95 and my system is totally solid, so I am pretty sure there's nothing wrong with my hardware.
So, what I gather, the solution is probably not related to a power supply or video hardware problem (since it occurred with a meager GF4 MX and the 6600 GT).
