Crazy amount of tourism from foreign religion

My actual game: Shoshone, fractal (two big continents). Popped desert folklore and took pagodas/mosques with my religion. Popped down a city on the other continent to claim FOY, bought my two religious buildings there. Shortly after Arabia came by to convert my city. Looking in my city I realised that Arabia went sacred sites. This City was producing 4 tourism now, and on top of this I could also buy a cathedral and a monastery! I created a big wave of settlers and missionaries to plop down cities on the other continent, which Arabia happily converted. This way I had 8 tourism right of the bat in all of my new cities.

This should be fixed. Doesn't make any sense that reformation beliefs can be used by followers. It's way too powerful and imbalanced.

In my last game as an early warmonger, someone else spread his religion to me and I was able to buy science buildings with faith. Didn't feel right.

I had a similar thing happen in a game I'm currently playing as Incas. Ethiopia has monastery/mosques for their religion and completely converted my empire (I never bothered to go religion since I figured Ethiopia would get way ahead anyway). They took the +2 Tourism reformation. Since I have 2x the cities as they do, I now produce 2x the Tourism from the religious buildings. Really, more than 2x, since someone else converted a city somewhere along the line and I got a Cathedral from that.

Also, IMO, there's nothing wrong or "not feel right" about this. I really like that faith and trade can both help you and potentially really help an opponent. Be careful what you unleash.

I thought that said 'Tourism from Foreign Legion'.... Lol.
Anyway, I too find it a little bit off that one can use other people's reformation. Like, someone else takes over your holy city with their religion, and you get to use all the neat bonuses? Good thing Founder and Enhancer beliefs are exclusive to the owner.

It IS RIGHT. Since you Religion is a double edged sword. You either get a super powerful belief and you get to share it with your friend or you get one that he cannot take advantage of while you get to enjoy your founder belief.

If you are surrounded by civs that don't faithmonger, that will take your religion, you should really consider sharing some less useful beliefs with them. For example: i wonderspam and they don't, i take the +2 Faith per world wonder belief.

This is the way it should be. You can then change your religion at a cost if you need the reformation belief more then yours. Also the only way to get sacred sites if going for early CV and you missed it but want to play it out.

Another weird thing in this game was that I had Kilimanjaro close to my capitol. After klimbing the Mountain and swimming in the fountain my troops were hard to kill.

Why doesn't it feel right? Honestly, if you make a religion that's good and people adopt it you still get the founder belief. I'm considering trying this in Multiplayer with Byzantium: get a double building religion with sacred sites and two founder beliefs and see how it pans out. I can see my economy going haywire with tithe and church property, which means I don't even really need to focus on a tourism victory.
